Will his loss prevent him from pushing forward amnesty this year?

Obama already has.

We need to be demanding our representatives reverse what Obama has already declared by fiat.

msnbc is pointing out how immigration amnesty has been the downfall of so many “lifer” incumbents of the GOP.

Todd whatshisname is saying immigration is the desperation issue.

msnbc is blaming TALK RADIO for pointing out the “humanitarian immigrant child” crisis.

MSNBC no amount of money could salvage him...

Tea Party is a one issue semi organization
with a single, simple guiding principal - fiscal and personal responsibility.

What’s so hard reconcile about that?

FOX is hitting it hard, over and over - this dooms the Republicans because of the “demographic shift”, there’s no point in opposing amnesty, HRC is a shoo-in, blah, blah, blah.

What’s up with that?

It'll darn sure make it hard for him to gather any support from the GOP types. I'm sure the liberal GOP types will be running away from the dead man walking...

Maybe not. Obama may try his, ‘I’ve got a pen’ routine on Amnesty.

May try? He's already begun.

The first phase - literally invite 'children' to trek across the border, creating a humanitarian crisis. The MSM is already dutifully running stories to this effect.

Second phase, Obama will declare that he must act immediately and unilaterally to avoid disaster - with unconditional amnesty by fiat. Americans will be told that we need to bring those parents north to care for their children or the American taxpayer will be forced to care for them.

Of course that will only mean the American taxpayer will have to care for both parent and child, but that will be the option presented by Obama.

on FNC democrats do not want to say the immigration or amnesty words. That is why they are trying to use the term boston tea party as a slur.

>> I don’t live in Virginia and thus ask: Will the new Republican nominee have a better chance to defeat his Democrat opponent in the fall election? <<

>> I’m curious too. I don’t know anything about him, and the only thing people here seem to like is that he is anti-immigration. I can’t believe that this is his only policy, however. He’s an economics professor, so he might not be your usual one-trick amateur who has gained favor for one particular position, and instead might actually be a solid candidate. Cantor seemed to have a lot of potential, being intelligent, conservative, and young. But he just never really connected with the economic reality of his constituents in a lot of ways (an odd thing, since that was his specialty) and then he somehow fell in with the Boehner wing. I hope David Brat turns out to be what Cantor could have been. I guess we’ll find out. <<

Finally, some level headed posts on this thread.

VA-7 has a Cook PVI rating of R+10, so it looks like whoever wins the primary is overwhelmingly favored to win in November. Especially since 2014 is likely to be a GOP year, Brat should have an easy time winning whether he's a good candidate or not.

Cantor did turn out to be a disappointment after he was overly hyped as a "rising star" before joining the GOP leadership. I hope Brat lives up to the hype and I wish him the best of luck, but I agree with you in taking a wait and see apprach.

The last time we had a big "win" like this was when Jason Chaffez defeating Chris Cannon in Utah. Cannon was a much bigger amnesty pimp than Cantor (though solidly conservative on everything else). Chaffez pretty much ran exclusively on an anti-Washington message and hammered Cannon nonstop for being pro-amnesty. and like everyone else I was psyched when Chaffez won and thought it would be great for getting some new blood in Washington. He's now turned out to be WORSE than his predecessor and it seems all that stuff Chaffez spewed about "conservative principles" meant nothing aside from using it to win a primary.

Let's hope Brat ends up more in the mold of Ted Cruz and Mike Lee than the mold of Justin Amash or Jason Chaffetz.

That’s what I was kinda wondering to myself, if a bunch of Democrats crossed over and voted for him.

Anyone know if Paul Ryan is receiving challengers? I see Wisconsin’s primary is in August. One down (Cantor), many more to go.

My point is that Obama’s tactics doom his party even more in Nov. If Cantor had prevailed, that couldn’t be forecast so confidently. But Cantor went down (1) because he has pushed Amnesty so hard, & (2) the border crisis is getting voters’ attention in a very negative way.

My focus is not the degree to which Obama will push Amnesty. It is the degree to which it will sabotage Dems in Nov.

There’s gotta be a catch to this.. Voter fraud on behalf of the Dems got Brat the win so whoever he’s going against in November will win? I’m VERY skeptical of this.

Brat supporter, Laura Ingraham, got a good zinger right between Campaign Carl Cameron's twin-arches eyebrows tonight. Loved it!
