With Eric Cantor on his way out the door, Washington is already buzzing about who could replace him as House majority leader.
It could be a free-for-all. Here are some names already being mentioned as potential candidates to run for House GOP leader, according to sources.
California Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the House majority whip
Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling, the former chairman of the House Republican Conference
Louisiana Rep. Steve Scalise, chairman of the House Republican Study Committee
Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee
Georgia Rep. Tom Price, former chairman of the Republican Policy Committee
Washington state Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, current chairwoman of the House Republican Conference

Louie Gohmert as Speaker.
Trey Gowdy as Majority Leader.
No McCarthy or Paul Ryan!
1000% agree !
Cathy McMorris Rodgers is a member of the Republican Main Street Partnership whose stated goal is to destroy conservative, Tea Party-aligned candidates.
No more blue-state Republicans in leadership positions. No Ryan, McCarthy, or McMorris Rodgers.
she sold out. there was hope for her when she first came to DC.
Sadly, that’s the case for many politicians. They know what they need to say in order to get elected then pivot once they’re in DC.
Heh. Some don’t even wait ‘till they’re in DC. Once they’ve won the primary, they swivel!
Anybody but that stooge Paul Ryan. I am hoping to loses in his primary.....Oh PLEASE! Kevin McCarthy will probably get it.
Hensarling would be the best option mainly because of what the “leadership” did to him the last time around. I would submit he would clean out the current committee chairs just like they tried to do to him.
Gowdy for Oversight
Ghomert for Judiciary
McCarthy for Janitorial
We can dream all we want, but it’s still D.C. and the establishment is still running the show. McCarthy will become leader because it’s “his turn”. If Boehner steps down then Ryan would probably become Speaker.
Speaker Allan West has a nice ring to it.
Yes! Louie Gohmert for sure. We’d experience a whiplash in the directional change of that chamber.
The establishment runs the show only so long as they can deliver the votes. That got destroyed last night. The power of the establishment dropped like a rock.

McCarthy, Ryan, and McMorris/Rodgers-—
No, no, and more no.
Hensarling, definitely.
I really don’t know McCarthy much. The reason I picked him was two things...one his current position and two I saw him on TV this morning and at least for the five minutes I heard him, he seemed ok. However, your recommendations work for me.
Trey Gowdy would be perfect.
Bingo!
Think outside the box...The Speaker of the House does NOT have to be a sitting member of the House...They could choose Marl Levine if they wanted too.
Tom Price would be great but likely it will be McCarthy or Hensarling. Of the two I would prefer Hensarling. McCarthy is just another Cantor.
