Obama says America ‘should be ashamed’ of its gun laws\ (2md Amendment trashing)

Calling the failure to pass gun-control laws the biggest frustration of his time in office, President Obama on Tuesday said America “should be ashamed” of its gun laws, decried the type of violence seen again Tuesday at an Oregon school, and praised a country that more or less banned all long guns.

Speaking to Tumblr founder David Karp, Mr. Obama said the U.S. does not conform to the rest of the “advanced, developed” world when it comes to gun laws, resurrecting his plea for restrictions on the sale of firearms. He also disputed the notion that mental illness is solely to blame, saying other nations do not experience mass shootings and the U.S. doesn’t “have a monopoly on crazy people.”

“My biggest frustration so far is the fact that this society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage. We’re the only developed country on earth where this happens. And it happens now once a week. And it’s a one-day story. There’s no place else like this,” the president said.

He then went on to praise a country that had outright banned and imposed a mandatory buyback on almost all long guns, including semi-automatic weapons and shotguns.

“A couple of decades ago Australia had a mass shooting similar to Columbine or Newtown, and Australia just said, ‘Well, that’s it. We’re not doing — we’re not seeing that again,’ and basically imposed very severe, tough gun laws, and they haven’t had a mass shooting since. I mean, our levels of gun violence are off the charts. There’s no other advanced, developed country on earth that would put up with this,” he said.

Don’t forget Brazil, which has much stricter gun laws than the US, and half the population of the US, and twice as many murders using a firearm than the US.

>>said America “should be ashamed”

When someone says “you should be ashamed” to a drug addict, welfare sow, career criminal, gang banger, or a teenager who dresses like a whore, the Democrats say, “you can’t judge them”.

Why is Obama judging America now? Where is the liberal “tolerance”? </sarc>

He is not just advocating sole restrictions here, he is advocating confiscation, as in Australia.

What we are ashamed and embarrassed about has nothing to do with gun laws.......................

I had a discussion with a fellow gun enthusiast from the UK some time ago about how easily Brits surrendered their gun rights.

He pointed out that British are “subjects” not “citizens” a well entrenched and persistent cultural difference that plays a profound and different (from the US) role in how they see their place in society relative to their government.

The Aussies, and Canadians too, spring from this tradition. Obama’s either ignorantly making an apples/oranges comparison, or deliberately lamenting his inability to rule as a king. I’m thinking it’s the latter ...

Oh yeah, more gun laws will help, especially in light of this thread - Prosecutor: Seattle campus shooter went off meds. Once again, we have someone that needed medication to function in society and he decided to stop taking it.

Has it occurred to Obama that the US has been at war, in many cases gleefully desroying civilizations and supporting militants and terrorists since 2001? None of this has shown a regard for lives. Video games and movies have and continue to trivialize death.

Meanwhile, children have grown up with mind-altering "meds" as they spend days and nights in school and out staring at tech screens. Many under these conditions have never and perhaps will never develop adult abilities to distinguish fantasy from reality. People now feel they need their guns to protect themselves from this zombie element in our popultation.

Obama wants to make things better? Caging children from Central America instead of sending them back to their homes and communities does not send that messagge. Arming Syrians to kill Christians and Ukranians to kill Ukranians is not the way to go.

The guns are the effect, not the cause. The violence is spillover from our out-of-control excuse for civilization.

Buy more ammo and if you’re thinking about that nice, new piece, the answer should be “YES”...

Let’s play “Complete the Obama Syllogism”:

Chicago has Draconian gun laws
Chicago has an extremely high murder rate
Therefore, ___________________________

Ashamed of a Constitutional law?

Is that the same as being ashamed of the Constitution, its authors, its spirit, ashamed of the selflessly courageous and duty-bound colonials who threw off hereditary, dynastic rule and ashamed of every single American soldier from that time to this who bled and died to defend American sovereignty?

Really!!!???

Whenever liberal-inspired violence ensues, it is usually a matter of seconds before they(liberals) start crying for gun control. Almost inevitably some nihilistic “selfie” goes off his meds, steals a gun, commits demonic-inspired atrocities in a “gun-free” zone. What most democrats and liberals are preaching is the total confiscation of 300-600 million guns in the hands of American citizens, so they can control us like all fascists.

President Obama on Tuesday said America “should be ashamed” of its gun laws,

He's right. 100% correct.

NFA '34? Utterly shameful. The very idea of restricting and taxing American Citizens' access to effective militia weapons is an outrage. It should be repealed (or declared unconstitutional) posthaste.

GCA '68? Modeled on the laws of the Third Reich, of all horrendous things ... an American Citizen should not be restricted as to what State he can buy weapons in.

FOPA '86??? The absolute ban on American Citizens obtaining newly manufactured effective militia weapons is outright tyranny.

The plethora of laws restricting the bearing of arms are yet another shameful outrage.

The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

And yet it is. Repeatedly and extensively.

Yes, we should be ashamed of this ... and outraged by it ... and determined to overturn all of it.

America “should be ashamed” of its gun laws

We should be. About 90% of them, if not more, are blatant violations of the 2nd Amendment and its intent.
