Cantor's Graceless 'Concession Speech'

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) failed to congratulate or even acknowledge Dave Brat in his concession speech last night.

Neither did Cantor offer Brat his support in November's general election against his Democratic opponent, or call Brat to concede the race, according to Brat.

"Cantor's concession speech did not mention Dave once," Brat's campaign manager Zach Werrell noted to Breitbart News.

Well, isn't that nice. GOP elite gets stomped and doesn't like it very much. Well, mr. moderate, that's what happens sometimes. Now on to getting rid of lamar alexander and thad cochran.

Career politician.

What did Jefferson say about that?

This fits in with what Virginia freepers have been saying about this guy - that he’s not nice. Chuck Todd tried to get Bill Kristol to admit that this morning but he wasn’t going to go there. Naturally, I knew that meant that Kristol didn’t like Cantor.

I think he was too shocked. He definitely didn’t have a speech ready so whatever he said was probably lucky to have said that. I would have rather gotten rid of Linda quite frankly. And Paul Ryan on August 18th.

Cantor was ignorant. What kind of ignorance? He ignored the people at his peril. Now he has been zotted. Good job. Now let Brat do less worse, and listen to the people.

No mention of support for the winning candidate or of unity with the now nominee.

Like many folks here have said, the GOPe would rather see a Democrat win than a person who respects the Constitution and has true loyalty to the United States.

The GOPe, the RNC, they are very offensive to me.

One word...arrogance.

He’s been taking lessons from The One.

No congratulations to the winner, no offer of support in the general - I smell a Cantor write in campaign.

RINO talk about unity goes only one way.

They have NO integrity. They are as bad as the left.

So is Cantor going to try to pull a Murcowski and run as an Independent, or does Virginia law prevent that?

Remember, we all need to unite behind the GOP candidate who won the primary, no matter what are personal feeling are*.

*Unless an actual conservative wins, of course

First “are” should be “our”. Second “are” is fine.

The arrogance of a career politician. Richard Luger did the same thing when he lost the Senate primary in Indiana. He threw a hissy fit which continues to this day.

Mike Castle did the same thing to Christine O’Donnell in 2010.

He was a moderate, too.

Brat can expect the GOP-e to come out against him with everything including the kitchen sink.

We saw it here in DE almost four years ago.

Cochran may be finished but Lamar is going to be tougher. However, Tennessee’s primary isn’t until August so there is time to turn the tide.

I was happy to see Cantor defeated, but I don’t think you are at all correct about what the GOPe wants. All they want to do is maximize the odds of someone with an R after his name winning a race. I would say if anything, that Conservatives are FAR more likely to say they’d rather see a Democrat win a race than a Republican they don’t approve of.

I don’t consider the concession speech he was FORCED to make was ‘graceless’ in an intentional manner.

I heard it and looked at it as that final moment of realization that his appeasing efforts, his rationalization that amnesty somehow is the best for Republicans, raising the debt limit, spending like a drunken sailor - all that jazz wasn’t really in tune with his constituents.

In other words, he finally realized he spent too much time in the hoochy coochy club watching all those alluring womens and now his momma standing outside the door with a shoe ready to rap him upside his head.

Just when was Cantor known for his ‘graciousness’? As long as he has been known for his ‘truth telling’?

who cares? i think it's petty to even mention it... i would act like i didn't even notice because i have bigger fish to fry than to spend one second giving thought to my opponent's concession speech... i would just be about the people's business...
