But maybe he has had a real change of heart? I admit - I used to watch him a lot in college in the mid-90's until I too saw the light...
It’s very simple. The left has realized from Cantor’s defeat that their previous tactic of trying to delegitimize the Tea Party will not work, because the voters that matter don’t listen to the left. So instead, they will try to suck up to the leading lights of the Tea Party and co-opt them just like they did to the Republican Party.
12?
He isn’t saying nice things. He’s urging liberals to wake up and recognize the enemy.
Hint : Matthews is repeating Hillary’s lines and giving her cover.
Hillary defended Brat too.
We have a winner!
People should really read a piece by “Brian Umana” in the Washingon Post (I’m on iPhone, could someone else provide the link pls?)
He’s a Liberal Dem who’s claiming partial credit for the Brat win. Two key points that we need to pay attention to:
First, how the Dems opened a big window to how they use data to drive turnout. There are now a bunch of Tea Party activists who know this and just used it in Brats winning campaign.
Second, the Dems are having second thoughts about Brat, realizing he doesn’t fit the dumb/ignorant/extremist Tea Party stereotype that they have bought into.
I think what we’re seeing with Matthews and others is the start of a shift in how they portray the Tea Party to their own benefit. Remember that their initial portrayal was to dismiss it as GOP staged AstroTurf. Then they shifted to the extremist line of attack.
Now I think they’re going to shift to portraying the Tea Party as reasonably disgusted with the GOP powers that be. Which is an accurate (if limited) portrayal.
BUT, we need to keep in mind that this is just good strategy and tactics on their part: if they can keep the Tea Party and GOPe at eachother’s throats, Democrats WILL win ... Which is why guys like Matthews are now going down this road.
Camille Paglia is openly disliked for her tough grading on Rate Your Professor. She’s hardly a dummie.
YES!
See my post #29, read the Umana piece. It all falls into place. The Dems want a strong GOPe AND a strong Tea Party, that will fight each other and not Dems.
IMHO it’s up to the Tea Party to point it out, but up to the GOPe to actually act upon (ie make peace and find accomidations with the Tea Party). It’s up to us (Tea Party) to be receptive to the GOPe outreach, should it happen. Otherwise, we all fall victim to the Dem’s divide and conquor strategy.
Exactly! Anything that upsets the children’s self esteem is BAD!
Brat had a lower rate my professor score.

The word was that there were very few ‘ratings’ and the 3 for Brat’s opponent were all submitted on the same day, after the election. Suspiciously odoriferous, if verified as true.
Typical of the rats.
BTW, my Passamaquoddy Pine Cone Prognosticator (The PPCP) tells me that the Chrissie Matthews marriage is in trouble.
Theory: Chrissie only becama a flaming Liberal Left-Wing Anus largely to keep his (wealthy) Left-Wing Flaming Anus wife happy. Basically, he might be your typical straight-thinking Holy Cross graduate of the early 60-'s. Democrat, Pope Pius IX, Truman-voter type Democrat. So, the old lady leaving let's him let the true Chrissie out of the bag? With dry trousers?
Ah well, it is a theory.
I like that. A lot.
The problem for the Dems is that there will never be a strong Tea Party element and a strong GOPe.
They are mutually exclusive, as a strong Tea Party element will destroy the GOPe.
It can’t be any other way.
He’s tired of ratings in the toilet.
I prefer to use the term “supplant,” not “destroy.”. The goal should be for the Tea Party to become the GOPe, not in terms of ideology by certainly in terms of exercising control of the Party machinery.
It’s a variation of that old Kruschev (I think) comment. I don’t want to destroy the GOPe (civil wars can counterproductive), I just want guys like Boehner, McConnell, Rove etc to wake up one morning and realize it’s the Tea Party that’s running the show,
Chrissie is angling for a better paying job and hoping Roger Ailes will pick him up and join Alan Colmes and Bob Beckel for the new Fox News show . . . The 3 Stooges.
Either that or the jelly juvenile brain of 68yr. old Mathews is still forever evolving which absolves him of all responsibility and lawsuits for anything he says.
