Cornyn’s war chest benefits from bundlers

WASHINGTON — When Sen. John Cornyn needed help fortifying his campaign war chest against a pesky and potentially dangerous tea party challenger, a small army of lobbyists volunteered.

Government influencers representing Goldman Sachs, Koch Industries and Lockheed Martin ranked among the “bundlers” who helped fill Cornyn’s coffers with nearly $1.1 million during 2013 and early 2014, according to a Center for Public Integrity review of federal campaign finance filings. Their contributions amounted to about $1 out of every $9 Cornyn raised.

No other politician raised a larger sum from lobbyist-bundlers. And only Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., who collected about $357,000 during the same period, raised a similar percentage from lobbyist-connected fundraisers, the analysis shows. A Cornyn spokesman did not respond to several requests for comment, and most of the lobbyists donors declined to discuss the donations or could not be reached.

Cornyn ultimately bulldozed Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Friendswood, and several lesser-known challengers in the March Texas Republican primary. He’s a heavy favorite to win a third term this fall.

But early on, it appeared possible that with so many contenders and Stockman’s relatively high profile, Cornyn could have been pulled into a runoff. In October 2013, Roll Call a Capitol Hill newspaper, named him among the seven GOP senators “most vulnerable to a primary.”

Lobbyists’ previously unreported role in Cornyn’s campaign helped the incumbent avoid, in his own words, a “fair fight.”

Cornyn is Cantor-like in spades. A political whore now, detached from honor and from TEXAS, but for stepping on the state for personal gain and amassing power, funded by Wall Street and corrupt wealthy socialists.

In VA that didn’t work. The voters overcame the Cantor money machine. Too bad it didn’t work in TEXAS.

We need to work on that, six years out, and be ready next time.

Just vote against him in the general election. There is no difference between him and his Democratic counterpart so we are not losing anything. We can get an (R) back in next time that will listen to us.

I will not be found voting FOR a democrat, or, for Cornyn.

I will write in Steve Stockman, probably.

His campaign called me and asked for $75. I told her I don’t give to RINO’s.

She started arguing with me. I told her simply, your boss says he is a conservative. Then how come he acts like a liberal?

Sllence.
