If this is true, the World Cup should be yanked from Brazil and the delayed games staged somewhere else. So far, it looks like these acts are being ratified by FIFA going ahead with this thing in Brazil.

If this is true, I think these games in Brazil should be boycotted.

street kids = 16 to 25 year old gangbangers

If the government controlled the favelas, I would be more inclined to believe this. Regular old-fashioned drug gang violence might be the better explanation.

Is the World Cup a type of yacht race?

"... right after the Brazilian police shot multiple kids in the favelas. "

Serves them right. I hate those noisy things.

I’m a little skeptical.

- Are there stories in the local newspapers about what appears to be a pretty big shootout? These pics can’t be the only documentation of what happened.

- Did this in fact happen in Brazil? Russia for example has been trying to pass off pictures from around the world as local atrocities as psy-ops efforts against Ukraine.

- Where are the fatal gunshots on the two boys in the lower right corner? Are they kids who just lay down in the street for sick laughs as their friends take pictures?

Just drag a case of spray paint down the street and out of town, problem solved.

Better than killing the poor souls.

"right after the Brazilian police shot multiple kids in the favelas"

And if you've ever been shot in your favelas you know how painful that can be.

Horrible as this is, local vigilantes have been killing street kids in the favelas at least since 2005, which is when I first read about it.

These kids are absolutely feral and ferocious. It’s common for a gang of 10-year-olds to cut your throat and leave you to bleed out while they steal everything you have.

It was so bad, that you couldn’t even go out after sunset if you looked like you might have anything of value on you. They would kill you even for earrings.

This is not new. I have read about the cops killing street kids for years. There was even a documentary on TV about it years ago. Some societies don’t value life the way we do.

I heard about the practice of street cleansing of minors in Rio, at least 15 years ago already.

The practice of killing street children is not a recent phenomenon.

This is old footage of a drug raid.

Makes a sensational story though, saying that kids were murdered to make way for the World Cup.

I got kicked in the favelas once and it was only a glancing blow. Put me down on the ground. I can’t imagine getting shot in the favelas...

But seriously, I’m not saying this didn’t happen as reported, but folks I know down there tell me gang/drug violence is rampant in those areas, that it would make Chicago look like Mayberry RFD.

Are you sure that those missing kids didn’t just have a nice train ride and are not now in a detention center in Nogales???
