There are hundreds of aspects of Obamacare that people argue over. But theres one question that matters above all others: does the Affordable Care Act live up to its name? Does it make health insurance less expensive? Last November, our team at the Manhattan Institute published a study indicating that Obamacare had increased the underlying cost of individually-purchased health insurance in the average state by 41 percent in 2014, relative to 2013. Weve now redone the study on a county-by-county basis, complete with a brand-new interactive map. Depending on where you live, the results may surprise you.

How's that 'lower it by $2,500' workin' out for ya?
To: TigerClaws
It might work out close to that if you factor in the number of people now without insurance that used to have it.

Women hit especially hard - after all, every single one just got stuck paying for full maternity coverage. Well, so did all the guys as well, since all insurance must be gender neutral (does that mean that all guys get a free breast screening every year? Women get a prostrate exam? Ahh, the liberal mind, an interesting place to be...)
The biggest problem with these surveys is that almost always, they compare apples to apples. What is really needed is a household survey of what people paid for insurance before, and what they pay for now. Betcha the biggest response is ‘we no longer have insurance.’
Mine is being canceled by my employer on July 1st, and I've got a 31 day grace period to find new insurance. Thanks Ms. Pelosi!

Only the most stupid Americans really thought that they would save $2,500 a year, we all knew that it was a Lie. And it will only get worse, I have heard that the premiums will be increasing by as much as 55% due to the low enrollment numbers.
