Congressman Yucks It Up On House Floor Amid Naming Of Post Office For Fallen Soldier

On Tuesday, The Daily Caller‘s Mirror blog reported that Alaskan Republican Rep. Don Young was clowning around on the House floor during the naming of a post office. He stuck his fingers in his ears and made funny faces, much like Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble on The Flintstones. Post office namings, as you might imagine, are not terribly exciting legislative moments in Washington.

But this one actually meant something.

Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.) sponsored the bill to honor a fallen solder.

If we get back to where we should be there would be few to no lobbyists because no one would be able toe expect a favor or handout from DC

On further reflection on current events, Colonel Kirby... take my name off that privy and rechristen the sumbitch "Obama Outhouse!"

Ideally, but there will have to be massive changes far and beyond simple term limits for elected officials. I even favor ridding the government of civil service and going back to strict patronage as it was until the late 19th century. You come in, you bring your people for however long you’re there, and when your term is up, you all leave, right down to the janitor.

Civil service has only created an unaccountable army of overpaid and over-benefitted parasites that continues to grow regardless of whom is in power (but it’s a leftist army in any event) and is insulated from the downturns in the economy (the real reason for an explosive government growth). It’s almost impossible to fire them (and there’s always a judge there to reinstate them). Even the misnamed government shutdown is a joke, because all but a minority are actually furloughed. DC now never has a “recession” because they’re always flush with taxpayer money (even money that now doesn’t exist).

All of this must be brought to a screeching halt.

Yes. John Wayne. I miss him, too bad he didn’t live to see RR get elected POTUS.

“Where is he now? Preparing to crash the Oscar season in a big way in Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman, which has a Batman in-joke plot: Keaton plays an actor who once famously played an iconic superhero on screen.”

LOL

As for Jack N., I wonder if he’s done. I didn’t even hear of that 2010 movie he was in. IMDB says he’s involved in some project called “El Presidente”.

Well said, brother. Best explanation I have heard of the 17th Amendment and ramifications.

Yeah, Keaton’s pretty much “back 9-ed” as a lead it since the second Batman. Hey, good for him. I thought he was good in “Jackie Brown” (part of an ensemble cast).

Nicholson: Looks like he’s fading away, sort of like Gene Hackman did. IIRC, Jack’s Batman contract had a clause that he’d get $$$ from all sequels. So, he’s raking in the ca$h, even if he’s not working.

Many years ago, I woke up from a drunken night out; my girlfriend snapped a picture of me, wearing an old leather bike jacket, my hair sticking up, stubble on the face...

She said I looked like Jack Nicholson in “The Shining”, where he chopped through the door... “Honey, I’m Home!”

Haha!! Yeah... it wasn’t pretty. I was pretty hung over. We had a weekend gig in a bar, and there was a party afterwards, and I drank like A LOT... a WHOLE lot....

Yeah, I saw this today.

My first thought was “His career is over...”

BUT - he may be at the point where he has “F-You Money” and doesn’t need them anymore, sort of like Mel Gibson.

Who knows... glad he’s on the right side of things, though.

Good for him.
