A bad night for Democrats

A BAD NIGHT FOR DEMOCRATS If you can divine a national trend from a runoff election in Mississippi, be our guest. But rather than pondering the motives of 3,188 Mississippi voters who made the difference in a bitter, hyper-local election, there’s a more useful consideration today. What’s at stake nationally this year is control of the U.S. Senate, and Republican chances of taking the majority went up significantly Tuesday night.

[During New York Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel’s victory speech, the stage nearly collapsed. Rangel asked “heavier people on the stage… to take safety over ego” and step down.]

Well, you could probably start with governor’s pardons in exchange for political favors and go from there.

It is, to an extent. This is why I am for primaries to be closed.

You are absolutely correct.

I think what happened in Mississippi and to a lesser degree in Colorado may just cement Harry Reid's continued majority leadership in the Senate.
I know I have given up on the Republican party and will not be participating this fall. Maybe in 2016, we will be able to field nominees from the TeaParty or whatever name they choose. But until there is a choice between change and the same corrupt careerists we have had, I am sitting it out and prepping up.

Yes, because Brett Favre has a long history of political campaigning. He’s more of a David Axelrod than a sportsman really.

We couldn’t even get the local self-appointed TEA Party spokesman to allow the best Conservative in the race to appear on the stage with Palin in the building in Tennessee.

Allowing them to vote for the republican and especially if they didn’t even vote in the primary is fraud. Yes it is the law, but who the crap ever made the open primaries possible? The rules are ridiculous and Republiucans need to change that so all states are closed primaries.

But until they are, it is perfectly legal and you can’t blame a candidate for using the rule. I wish McDaniel had been so smart....perhaps he would have won. Now he will just have to dust himself off and try again....hopefully he will learn his lesson to not believe the polls as most of the time they are wrong.

This was a voter fraud issue. Allowing Democrats to vote in a primary is fraud?

In addition to the treachery of a campaign to get democrats to pollute a republican primary there were many reports of the difficulty of tracking double voting and absentee ballot shenanigans.

Doesn’t matter how ridiculous it is. Red State Mississippi one of the most conservative states in the nation made the rules. Conservatives themselves probably made the rule not knowing it would bite them someday. I am just shocked it took this long for a Republican to use the rule.

When Rush was for it in 2012, I don’t recall anybody yelling and screaming to him about how treacherous it was.

Where is Rinse Repeatus/ Prince Reibus the head of the RNC on the results? Will he be all giddy because of another GOP-e win?

Hate to say it, but I think you’re right. Repukes attacked the base in 2012, and millions stayed home.

My homestate, the primaries are closed. You have to be of one party or the other.

I know. We are a complete disorganized mess as a whole. GOPe is winning due to our incompetence.

“Why didn’t McDaniel have Sarah Palin or Ted Cruz the day before?”

I’m pretty sure McDaniel would have been happy to have Ted Cruz come in any time before the election, but my understanding is that Cruz has chosen to stay out of races where the incumbent GOP senator is being challenged. I believe it is some kind of commitment he made to party bosses.

You’d think they’d change this rule fast now. Who exactly decides this and who can people contact to send their dissatisfaction with this? State Governor?

Nice. Mississippi, South Carolina and other Red states are not. Weird that conservatives don’t like closed primaries. I don’t get it but with the OVERWHELMING Conservative state houses in these Southern states, it would not be difficult to change the law......but guess what? They won’t because they secretly like the law.

...... Rangels’ opponent NY state Democrat Sen. Adriano Espaillat (D-Manhattan) was a scumbag, but Charlie Rangel, is a criminal......

Rangel's opponent was an even bigger criminal.

Can't believe I would actually defend Rangel---but his opponent is an even worse crook---and a stooge for foreign governments.

The FBI is hot on the tail of NY state Democrat Sen. Adriano Espaillat (D-Manhattan), a Dominican Republic native, and his penchant for sucking up tax dollars for so-called “needy latino community groups.” Dominican-born Democrat Espaillat sucked up 100 “member items” as an assemblyman, including $500,000 public monies for his tax-exempt nonprofit, the grandiously named, “Northern Manhattan Coalition for Economic Development.”

(NOTE WELL: “Member items” is a nauseating extortion scam for greedy NY state legislative members---several have been nailed for similar scams).

DOMINICAN-BORN DEMOCRAT ESPAILLAT IS KNOWN AS SENATOR PORK----FBI agents want to know about Democrat Espillat’s use of public monies for “needy groups” that employed a covey of Dominican Republic natives including Espaillat’s sister-in-law, a Democratic district leader and several campaign consultants.

FBI scrutiny comes as DEMOCRAT Espaillat’s ex-COS sings about Albany corruption---after he got wired for the FBI. Nelson Castro, a Dominican Republic native, got wired to save himself—---earlier, he lied to the FBI WRT a parade of Dominican Republic illegals, who elected him using corrupt methods including registering to vote in several districts---even using Castro’s address to register.

Espillat zipped his lips when asked whether Dominican Democrat Castro was singing to the FBI about Espaillat. BTW, Espaillat’s economic development scam closed down in 2011 when the electorate was onto the member items scam. But Espillat appointed his scammong n/p’s executive director to a $50,000-a-year job as Sen Espaillat’s “special assistant.”

(Mmmmmm.....sure would like to see Dominican Republic native Nurys de Oleo's job description---up against his actual state duties for Espaillat.) NOTE Some material gleaned from NY Post reporting.

===============================================

The Rangel/Espaillat race was being touted as a symbol of latino voting strength---since it had morphed from an Afro district to a latino district.

HERE'S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW Seems warring latino factions precipitated Espaillat's defeat.

NY POSTS ANALYSIS: although half-Puerto Rican, Rangel isn’t considered a favorite son amongst Puerto Ricans, because for years, he downplayed his heritage. The Puerto Rican vote is given short shrift by many political reporters and pundits.

According to Angelo Falcon, director of the National Institute on Latino Policy at Hunter College, Puerto Ricans make up about a quarter of the Latino population in the district. Unlike Dominicans and other recent Latino arrivals, they are all US citizens and eligible to vote upon arrival in New York. Consequently, Puerto Ricans make up 30 percent or more of the Latino vote in the 13th CD.

Another important but overlooked factor contributing to Rangel’s win was the ethnic division among Hispanics. Hispanics in the district are predominately Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and Mexicans.

Former Bronx state Sen. Israel Ruiz says, “Puerto Ricans voters do not like Dominicans — especially Dominican politicians . . . perceived as cocky and pushy and who never give credit to the Puerto Ricans who opened doors for them.”

Rangel’s victory openly questions the ability of Puerto Rican pols to move Puerto Rican voters in support of a Dominican insurgent against a popular and well-known congressman.

The Red State government....which is why it is weird that these laws have been in place for as long as they have. I bet you won’t have the conservatives change the law. I just have a feeling they like the law.
