evil for good...

Saul and the Amalekites is a tough story to figure out. I’ve read one claim that centuries later, a descendant was Haman who tried to exterminate the Jews in the book of Esther.

It is only our faith in God that tells us the extermination of the Amalekites including women and babies would be justice. There’s nothing obvious in the story that says so.

I don’t understand what you are saying. I went back and read the passage. Saul defied God. Good is following a direct order from God. If God tells you to do something, it is Good because it’s God telling you. Mortal rules and perceptions of good and evil do not apply.

god did not send Saul to do evil. He sent him to act out his will. The only way Saul did evil was in defying God.
