Barone is correct and I dont think he even gives enough credence to the extent to which GOP primary voter anger simmers after these defeats. For three straight elections now, conservatives have been willing to live by the mantra of conservative in the primary, Republican in the general. But with Mitch McConnell at the wheel during this election cycle, the tactics used by McConnell and Cochran to secure their costly victories, especially after watching the Lisa Murkowski/Arlen Specter/Charlie Crist party switching show, have gotten many voters to seriously consider voting Democrat in the general to root the corruption out of the GOP once and for all.
I am not formally going to vote for a Democrat, but I will not - WILL NOT vote for a RINO ever again. I don’t care what that means to GOPe appeasers and wishers. It is high time this GOPe leadership realize their pathetic efforts to pander to Hispanics, blacks and other traditionally entrenched voters that conservative ideals are preferable.
The reason they cannot do this is that they desert conservative ideals at the drop of a hat and they run to the safety of ‘moderate’, ‘reasonable’ and appeasing at the first opportunity, and the Democrats having promised more largess always betray and beat them.
No More.
It’s unfortunate that we’re not replacing 10 liberals at a time, but we are replacing them 1 at a time at least.
...gotten many voters to seriously consider voting Democrat...
I’ll be voting for the democrat against McConnel, and the last time I voted for a democrat was Dixie Lee Ray for governor of Washington state, and even then it was because of her comments on nuclear power when all the nut jobs wanted it abolished.
I’ll vote for the democrat if it means they keep the senate. It is more important to purge the R’s than gain the senate, especially if we only gain the senate with “democrat-lite”, which is what the GOPe is.
The way things are headed, if we don’t beat them at the ballot box, eventually we’ll beat them with Louisville Sluggers.
