When ‘something like a mountain’ slams into the sea; the resulting tsunami will do quite a number all the coasts.

“The US is doing the same thing. It’s called economic development, and every state, city, and town has an economic development division that is responsible for picking winners and losers in business, dreaming up costly “quality of life” projects, and using taxpayer money to bribe businesses to relocate. They are nothing more than gussied up Soviet 5-year plans with a Chamber of Commerce face.”

Too true; the current illegal immigrant debacle is related to this (re-populating places abandoned by taxpayers) to stimulate the economy (with welfare payments subsidized by those areas still generating tax revenues).

They're built over the super-duper-uber-double-dawg secret ufo bases hidden underneath.

I read it on the internet. It must be true!

I guess I am soft hearted about critters and couldn’t do that to a raccoon. I’d want to give them a chance in the wild.

I keep ‘em just long enough to take them on a 7-8 mile ride to the Nature Preserve.

A liberal is merely a conservative that hasn't been mugged... yet.

Thats the only critter I hate....chewed a hole in the roof of a old ice house with one of my turkeys and her chicks. Killed 10 chicks and ate them in one night....Broke into my chicken coop, killed 1/2 of my bantams. The bistard make a hole in the false roof (that makes an attic) and piled up 8 dead hens, ate one right down to the bone. Still articulated. my neighbor had never seen anything like that skeleton before, still had an egg inside the skeletal remains...Got into another turkey pen with cyclone fence and wire lean to roof to the coop. Found one of the baby chicks leg stuck between the wire and the cyclone fence. Ate the rest. Didn't go near the adult turkey, took all of her chicks, but she was able to say one....found decapitated rabbit behind the garage. Killed my favorite male bantam I had trained to fly up on the wrist when I called him. Left the head on top of the chicken coop and the body in my front yard....Coons kill by decapitating. Had to kill 2 birds that were still alive but 1/2 eaten. Patched up my guinea hens leg that got broken...took a week of caring for her before she could walk on it fine.

It took me and hubby over an hour to find out how that vermin got into the chicken coop...I have drown them, shot them but at the time it didn't occur to me to use it for target practice.

Oh and they will walk down a row of corn, pull back 1/2 the husk and eat the corn uncovered and move onto the next stalk....had to find out it was an old coon trick from my old neighbor....Carry rabies big time, but glad your soft hearted to all critters. Me to, except coon..HATE THEM

That’s raccoons being raccoons. They don’t know what a chicken coop is, all they can think is here is a bonanza in something they can easily get into.

Sorry to hear about your chickens. Build your chicken coops better if you are in raccoon territory is all that can be said. Raccoons were living here before you were. I don’t know if it is even POSSIBLE to rid an area of raccoons. If you killed all the raccoons in an area and did nothing else, more would come, because they don’t tell stories to one another.

Hot sauce (e.g. Tabasco) is said to repel raccoons.

gee whiz, thanks for all your advice. don’t live on the farm anymore, but if I do go back to farming, I will remember all your excellent advice. Our ancestors were smarter than the milktoast of today. They got rid of those animals that were in their area...the idiots of today are re introducing wolves, protecting frogs and telling people what they can and cannot do where they live. Didn’t know too many were on freerepublic...but thank you very much for your opinion, freedom of speech is important...my daughter got rid of a lot of coons on her back woods home and now her cats are safe. Love those cats...

I was due to get 3 young ducks (Easter critters I imagine) Saturday from my grandson’s girlfriend.

When they came to the farm; they brought no ducks.

“Sorry, Grampa; but the dog got to them and ate them last night.”

Doesn't that make the feathers quite messy?

....“Sorry, Grampa; but the dog got to them and ate them last night....

Poor little ducks...when I had my indoor aviary for raising my finches, I also acquired mini-(grouse, if I remember correctly), they were grow dwellers. I went into the aviary to refill feeders and didn't notice one ran out when I opened the door...When done I went into the living room and my dog looked like she had all the lint in her mouth from the dryer...I opened her mouth and there was my baby bird. I saved it from the dog, but it died the next day, probably from shock, it had no teeth marks in it....bad doggie..Peking ducks are a target for all predators, My daughter got 3 and onewas eaten by a hawk, the snapping turtle in the pond got one and I don't remember what took the third... later she got a couple of Mallards. Nothing went after them, but they hated her cats and use to chase them all over the place.....Suggest no Peking ducks, white no camouflage. Poor little ducklings Elsie. :O( bad dog...

You have a thoughful grandson and girlfriend...lucky grampa..
