Actually, none of the stores named in the article ban firearms even though they could do so with just a sticker on the door.

This is just management trying to pacify anti-gun loons.

Such positive safety changes made by some of our country's leading retailers are proof of the influence of women and mothers," said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America

Shut up Shannon and make me a sammich.

Target is already a target of distrust by millions of shoppers whose credit cards were compromised there…and the company didn’t tell them for months.

A company whose logo is a bulls-eye.... classic Target.

I do think that the “open carry” folks are simply trying to “force” a major fed court fight down the road, IMHO.

Probably the best bet is to go visit a Target, ask to speak with a manager, and tell them, “I wish I could shop here, but with your anti-gun policy, I just don’t feel safe here. Goodbye.”

Happening just once, it would be an oddity that would be ignored. But if it happened at several different stores, it would eventually get the ear of their district managers. They are ambitious types, and want to get noticed by upper management, so are very interested in public feedback.

Few are more pro 2nd amendment than me, but I think your comments are spot on. Lots of things may be “legal”, but not all legal things are wise.

A group called Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America gathered nearly 400,000 signatures..

Really 400,000?
310 million — Total number of nonmilitary firearms in the United States as of 2009. Aprox. half of every home in America has at least one gun.
You are on the wrong side of this Target......

Exactly how it should work.

As a private business, Target has an absolute right to ban guns from their property.

As a private citizen, you have absolute right stop giving them your money.

Target wants a "safe and inviting" atmosphere for its shoppers and employees.

Instead, Target will get a "safe and inviting" atmosphere for whack jobs looking for soft targets.

“asking” but not requiring.

this is a scam done by these anti-civil rights left wingers.

The stores still have to comply with the law. Just wait for the law suits.

Don’t shop at Target — your life may be at stake.

It has become a soft Target (no pun intended) for nuts and terrorists.

It is all about revoking the civil rights in the constitution.

first the second.

we see the third via the illegal aliens happening now.

we are losing the 4th and 5th.

they tried to do the first.

Thanks for posting the logical and mature way to handle this issue with Target:

"If Target’s corporate management doesn’t want me in their stores, I guess I won’t go. I’ll take my money elsewhere. I hope that makes them happy."

How can they object to concealed carry if we don’t tell them? The worst that can happen so long as it is legal to carry in your state is that if they find out you’re packin’ they can ask you to leave the store. That’s it. Of course the last time I entered a target store was when I worked for them 20 years ago. I quit beause a manager decided it was his job to make my life hell. So I’m still a little “bitter”. Screw target. I look forward to their chapter 13 announcement.
