CSM,

Wouldn’t that be more attributable to the difficulty most people have in applying the steady hold and aim factors to pistols as opposed the caliber and type (auto -v- revolver)?

“Perhaps its the shitty trigger that the M&P has.”

I bought and then sold an M&P (.40) for that very same reason.

A crappy trigger is a crappy gun and that M&P trigger was the worst I’ve ever shot. Didn’t like the gun overall, but that trigger was crap.

I find it to be reliabile and quality construction. Here is what Impact Guns says...

Springfield
XD .45 ACP 4 Inch Barrel Black Finish 13 Round With XD Gear System
Lightweight, ultra high-impact poly frame. Over-sized heat treated slide rails. Dual tension recoil spring system. Over-sized slide stop/release. USA trigger system. Over-sized take-down release lever. Forged, heat treated fully machined slide. Cold hammer forged barrel. Ambidextrous magazine release. Loaded chamber indicator. Front and rear cocking serrations. Firing pin status indicator. Two chrome plated Easy Glide magazines. XD Gear System includes belt holster, double magazine pouch, magazine loader and a cable lock.

This time Springfield’s engineers have outdone themselves: defying the laws of physics, adding material where needed, shaving it away where it’s not . . . cramming 14 rounds of 45ACP punch into a polymer frame that is not perceptibly larger than the one they use for their 9mm and 40 cal. XDs.

Springfield Armory XD 45ACP, with 4” Barrel, Black Finish, and XD gear system*. The 4 Inch XD combines safety with quality and ease of use. With the new Ultra Safety Assurance (U.S.A.) action trigger system, this polymer framed pistol is as comfortable as it is safe.

Their price is $474.

they don’t b/c women can’t hold the gun well and don’t like the rounds’ intensity.

that’s why the 40 cal’s exist today.

Why did they ever abandon the M1911A?

"It's a total system replacement -- new gun, new ammo, new holster, everything,"

Because they can. Remember, there isn't an ounce of fat in the federal budget. It all has to be spent...somehow.

the 10 is great but if you have to use it the cops will take it away and good luck getting it back in good condition, if at all.

The only reason I would be interested would be to have a stock on my pistol. I have no need to make my pistol heavier just to have some foo-foo attachments, so I will just spend my money on a 16 inch barrel carbine since I don’t want the hassle of a tax stamp. I prefer to not break the law, even if it is a law I don’t agree with.

And the XDs-45ACP is great in a smaller package. I know a couple ladies who carry ‘em.

My Wife carries the XDs .45, and she loves it.

Haven’t done a side by side test by my own hand, but I’ve gone up against other shooters using their 9mm. Mine is a full size, so that would make quite a difference. I’m just one of the old school guys I guess as far as calibers go.

On a side note, I recently bought a 45-70 Marlin 6 in the tube rifle heh. I call it the family rifle, it’s what I will be carrying around while we go hiking etc.

It is dislike by many because it is exceptionally heavy, with a very long barrel.

They make something called the CCWComfortSling that acts like suspenders. On the occasion when I decide to carry my Beretta 92FS, it helps out a lot with the weight.

Why screw around? The 44 Automag would do the trick!

I love revolvers, but they are not simple and they can jam, break, etc. Dirt between the cylinder and forcing cone can lock the gun up tight. Dirt inside can do nasty things too.

I also like single action revolvers, and keep one at home for self defense, but they aren't optimum guns for combat. Still...

The problem is not the 9mm pistol, but the 9mm ball ammo that they are required to use under the Geneva Convention.

I carried one in the Army, and the weight never bothered me one bit. But I couldn’t imagine trying to conceal it, since it is bulky.

I had the same issue back when it was the only pistol I had at the time. I just wore longer, bulkier shirts.
