'So Sue Me': Why President Obama Is Embracing a Fight With Congress
NBC News ^ | July 6, 2014 | by Perry Bacon Jr.

President Barack Obama has aggressively touted his use of executive authority over the last several months as he aims to cement his legacy and push his policies now and even beyond his presidency.

The president's in-your-face attitude was punctuated Wednesday by his sarcastic challenge to Republicans: "So sue me."

The emphasis on executive actions is a shift for Obama. In 2010, after Republicans won control of Congress, the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank in Washington wrote a detailed memo urging Obama to use executive orders on a wide range of issues.

But late last year, Obama hired as a top adviser John Podesta who had co-written the executive power memo in his role as president of CAP.

And the administration has headed in a much more confrontational tone with the Republicans, led by the president himself.

“Three years, there were still some things moving,” said Neera Tanden, who replaced Podesta as head of CAP. “The rate of executive actions is a direct corollary with the level of dysfunction with the Congress.”

Because he’ll be able to play it up to getting rid of Congress and making the Presidency the sole place of power in government.

“The rate of executive actions is a direct corollary with the level of dysfunction with the Congress.”

The congress is functioning exactly as it was designed.

Real easy to predict what Obama will do next. About a year or two ago he frequently said during speeches to his base, that he could not solve immigration (grant amnesty) because the constitution and laws tied his hands.

The only reason he said that was to condition his moderate base to the fact that he was going to break the law to grant amnesty.

He has to condition his moderate base to not negatively react to what his future plans will be.

He is going full Chavez.

I have met/been around several arrogant, narcissistic people in my life. But nobama takes the cake. He is yelling at the top of his voice, as loud as he can, “SCREW YOU!” to the entire country. He thinks he’s untouchable. Only a fool would bait Congress.

I pray every day that God will direct some of the senior members of the Democrat party to take nobama out behind the barn and have a very serious conversation. Prolly won’t happen. I suspect those senior members are enjoying their booty way too much.

If the orange man cannot use the power of the purse and impeachment to stop the illegal treasonous actions in the WH, why doesn’t he step aside?

Dysfunction of the Congress == Republican bills passed in the House sitting on Harry Reid’s desk without action.

Campus radicals enter sixth year of occupation of most departments

Capital Beltway U. Still No Action To Oust "Marxist-Alinsky Psycho Spoiled Brats"
Plan "king-like authority [for future radicals taking Capital Beltway University campus]."

Washington, D.C. Campus radicals had planned occupying the House in 2014 . . . Now they have a much more modest hope: holding onto the occupation of the Senate. University officials have indicated that action against the radicals is most likely to start there in 2014 . . . .

The “So sue me” comment is probably the dumbest thing I’ve heard a President say. I think it proves that we are governed by 10 year old, greedy and vengeful Democrats.

What more can they do, pray tell? Your ideas, please?

Until there’s a GOP majority in the senate or until Harry Reid is carried off to hell, there’s not much the House can do.

The reason Obama is doing this is that he knows he’s unpopular - but congress is even more so. However, he’s assuming everybody is dissatisfied with the GOP, but I would suspect that a lot of Dems don’t like their elected reps either, since Obama ignores them equally when he simply issues an order or, conversely, refuses to enforce a law, even the sham ones they’ve passed. Harry Reid maintains tight control, but at some point, even the Dems are going to rebel against being blamed for Obama’s stupidity and malevolence.

That will never happen...simply because he will never meet with them unless it's on his terms and addresses his agenda...

He disdains them and they are beneath him...as we all are...

Even if he did, he would blow them off...after all they are mere Senators... unlike his magnanimous all important self..

Congress is as guilty, for the last 60 70+ years, of blatantly ignoring its constitutional Article I, Section 8-lmited powers as Obama is with respect to blatantly ignoring constitutional limits on Oval Office powers. The question is, how much longer are voters going to allow themselves to be fooled before they grow some and exercise their voting muscle to clean up the mess in DC?

It's too bad that USA voters have proved themselves time after time to be "fire fighters" and not "fire preventers."

“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves [emphases added]. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)

As a side note concerning the unconstitutionally big federal government, please consider the following. The states would sure be a dull, boring place to grow up and live in if parents were to make sure that their children were taught about the federal government's constitutionally limited powers. /sarc
