Russia's parliament has ratified an agreement that will see Moscow write off 90% of cash-strapped Cuba's $35.2bn debt to the Soviet Union, according to the Russian news agency ITAR-Tass.

The agreement was hurried through the State Duma on the last day of its spring session on Friday, a week before President Vladimir Putin's official visit to Cuba, where he will meet Cuban President Raul Castro, and his brother, revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.

Cuba will give Putin what he wants even military bases or else. Cuba is shaking in their shoes and made a pack with the devil. Putin could destroy Cuba in about 1/2 a day and Castro's hanging from a Cuban tree in a hot second.

Cohibas are wonderful; I’m also a big fan of Montecristos.

Anyone who thinks this is just a "very nice gesture" is very naive.

C'mon, now. This simply is a fine Christian gesture by a nice Christian man. Putin means no one any harm.

When I visited Cuba a few years ago, I was struck by all the memorials to the "Periodo Especial" that followed the break up of the Soviet Union. Those were very bad times indeed -- for ordinary Cubans at least. Of course the Castro regime escaped blame -- despite refusing to accept humanitarian aid from the U.S.A. for nearly 5 years.

That you are incredibly misguided as it pertains to Vlad, Russia and Ukraine does not, in itself, remove you from the ranks of the gentleman.

Benefit of the doubt, that’s all.

Oh I can see very clearly what’s happening in Ukraine. And I’m ashamed my country is involved in it. If that’s misguided then I plead guilty.

I can understand how some get where you have gotten vis a vis the US.

But to turn that into Putin love is simply inexplicable.

This is why the libs want to end the “embargo” against Cuba. What they really mean is giving Fidel “credit” to “buy” US goods. Cuba can buy all of the food and medical supplies it could ever want from the US. The key word here is “buy”, as in cash money. Fidel is the biggest deadbeat in the world.
