Perry is showing himself to be somewhat hairless by yapping about calling out the Guard. He already has the authority to call out the TNG. He just doesn’t want to pay for it. He wants a feral mobilization so the bill goes to the Fedz. But he’s still not thinking clearly because at a minimum he could be having the guard units take their regular summer training on the border-—that wouldn’t cost a dime more than is already spent on guard training. And the local sheriffs could be getting off their butts and deputizing helpful citizens, especially border property owners. At a minimum they could use a few more speed boats in the Rio to wash the wetbacks south.

That doesn't seem to be a joke or sarcasm. So I'll treat it seriously.

The 2008-2009 Texas budget for border security was $111 million. In 2010-2011, it was $121 million. In 2012-2013, it was $222 million. In 2014-2015, it is $332 million. And just this month, we have allocated an additional $1.5 million PER WEEK.

Do Perry and Abbott want the Feds to cough up some dough? YOU BET! (Security is one of the federal government's primary constitutional duties, ya know.)

Are they shy about spending our money on border security? No.

Note: In 2011, we were facing a $27 billion (not million) budget deficit. When everything under the sun got slashed in our budget, we nearly doubled our spending on border security.
