State Rep. Joe Carr is closing a gap among likely Republican voters between him and Sen. Lamar Alexander, according to a new poll from a conservative group.
While the poll still gives Alexander a 44 to 36 percent lead, the numbers show opposition toward the incumbent coalescing around Carr, according to the conservative media outlet Breitbart. The survey of 1,099 voters, conducted by Triton Polling, has a margin of error of 2.9 percent.
Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham recently endorsed Carr, his campaign also announced.
When the same survey was conducted in May, Alexander led by 24 points. Both polls were sponsored by Tea Party Nation. The organizations president, Judson Phillips, told Breitbart, "Lamar Alexander is the poster child for what is wrong with Washington Republicans."
The senator is being challenged by six candidates in the Aug. 7 GOP primary.
On Tuesday, Alexander rolled out a new get-out-the-vote campaign and digital ad buy. The video is a sharp departure from the senators previous ads. It features grainy footage, dramatic music and an ominous narration.
"The imperial presidency has trampled on our Constitution," the narrator says. "Conservative leader Lamar Alexander has been leading the fight to stop the Obama agenda."

LOL!!
HOW has Lamar been doing that exactly?
Yep!....in addition to making Obama happy with several other votes as well.
“Conservative leader Lamar Alexander has been leading the fight to stop the Obama agenda.”
It’s astounding how false this is. I guess that Plaid figures if he is going to have to lie his way to reelection he might as well lie big.
A life-long Tennessee politician only garnering 44 percent... apparently 20 percent are undecided. Undecideds ALWAYS break for the challenger. Not looking good for Lamar.
