WASHINGTON -- How can a president fix more roads and bridges without any new money to spend?
President Barack Obama's answer Thursday was to announce new initiatives to encourage private-sector investment in the nation's infrastructure, including the creation of a "one-stop shop" at the Department of Transportation to forge partnerships between state and local governments, and public and private developers and investors.
Stymied by Republican lawmakers who refuse to go along with Obama's call for vast new spending on the nation's infrastructure, the president is spending the week trying to demonstrate that he can still find ways to stop big things from crumbling.
The executive actions the president announced aim to "turbocharge private investment in our roads, rails, highways and bridges," said Jeffrey Zients, the director of his National Economic Council. "If we don't act, we could lose our competitive edge in infrastructure. It's a no-brainer -- we need to make these investments."

Exactly! What’s this business about “stymied by Republicans bla.bla.bla?” Why would anyone give more money to someone to do something after they pocketed the $ and didn’t do it the first time?
I thought the TARP or stimulus 1 (& 2 &...) money went to pay for these “shovel ready jobs a few years ago. Maybe that stolen money is in the same place that h klintoon put the $6,000,000,000.00 that was reported “unaccounted for” when she was sos. Criminals...thieves.

The entire MSM narrative on transportation spending is a lie. Obama has new money to spend, but he's not fixing roads and bridges. This money is going to a bunch of mass transportation and "green" boondoggles. Even the money that is purportedly being spent on roads and bridges includes overpriced extravagances like electronic billboards and highway monitoring systems.
If Congress appropriates $50 billion for road repair this year, then $50 billion for road repair next year, the MSM construes that as Obama not having money. Or if Obama asks for $60 billion and Congress provides for $50 billion, then the MSM portrays it as a "deficit" in the highway "trust fund." There are so many lies and abuses of language in how the MSM reports on transportation issues that the MSM makes Orwell look like an amateur.
So someday when you wonder why the new expressway in your town dead-ends in some mall parking lot...

Public/Private “Partnerships” are the ULTIMATE IN CRONY CAPITALISM, as anyone who’s driven on those highways finds when it comes time to pay their tolls.
