Unlike many other Freepers, I think this is obscene. And it is affecting our health.

Yesterday, I was in Safeway, where I ordinarily buy only produce, mostly organic, looking for a can of something other than cat food that my cat would enjoy. Read labels on all canned fish. Amazing how much sodium is added to everything. Finally found a can of sardines with “no salt added.” Cat and I both enjoyed them.

I try to stay salt-free , so I don’t have to take blood pressure meds. It works. Every prepared food in the market would kill me sooner rather than later. Or create health problems that would require pharmaceuticals, which I also avoid whenever possible.

Were I a conspiracy theorist, I would suspect collusion between food manufactures and BigPharma.

"So the life expectancy is plummeting?"

No because Big Pharma is there to pump pharmaceuticals into you to counteract the poisons you ingest from Big Agra...

But you are still not healthy...

almost all "store brands" are made in the exact same factories the brand name stuff

I'm aware of that. That's why I buy it cheaper when I can.

And many of these giant corporations (such as Monsanto) are extremely ruthless. Small farmers all over America are being wiped out and forced out of the business by the predatory business practices of these huge companies...

Talk to any farmer.............his biggest problem is with BIG GOVERNMENT, not big corporations.

The author didn't even mention Big Government, did he?

Makes me think he's in their pocket.

I am reminded of my daughter telling me about the food pyramid.
My response to her was to let her know that the pyramid is designed more by political cronyism than actual science.

Then comes my long tyrade on thought control and ideological indoctrination to control the masses by a ruling class etc etc.

I tell her about the way people used to question authority because it was healthy to the cause of freedom etc etc.
At this point she is ready to go back to her iphone. I sure hope some of this catches on with her.

But you are still not healthy...

Boy you've got that right.

My doctor is in the pocket of Big Pharma too, has given me prescriptions that made my heart healthier, made me feel better..............

Foolish me, maybe I'm really quite sick.

"Talk to any farmer.............his biggest problem is with BIG GOVERNMENT, not big corporations."

See, you fell into the trap.

In food production Big Agra and Big government are synonymous...

You will find the people who work in the FDA all have worked in the big food corps and vice versa.

Without factory farming, enhanced yields, and preservatives, there would be billions fewer people on the earth. Food poisoning is no longer a major cause of death. Chemicals in the water mean that water borne illnesses are no longer a major cause of death.

Plenty of people eat 'big agra' food and don't take pharmaceuticals.

You sound like a leftist.

Come the revolution and the blockage of the interstates, the riots will be over no food until starvation makes the rioters too weak to function.

My wife has decided to boycott Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

She takes her good glasses to read those little labels on the fruit and veggies. If she’s that pissed it is really getting bad out there.

How about teaching people to be responsible enough to plan for their own family instead of sitting on their *sses expecting someone else to take care of them.

And if my shopping trip yesterday is any indication, there aren’t too many starving people in this country. The food court was full of fat people, who couldn’t even fit in the seats, shoving crap down their throat at record speed. They had about half a dozen extremely loud kids each, not just one or two who were also shoving crap down their throat.

Lots of fancy hair colors and nails, expensive handbags and lots and lots of huge tattoos from one end to the other. Those things are expensive!

It is a HUGE deal. A corporation that decides whether or not you eat?? A corporation is answerable to NO ONE except stock holders. It’s scary some actually think this is not a big deal.

Understand if you ingest nothing but processed food then take pills to address the effects it has on your body you may live a long time but you are not healthy.

Healthy people don't need to take medicine...

Nope not true. Seriously??? What is a big corporation answerable to? Sure as H*** not you or any other voter. The problem isn’t government control it is LibTard Government control.

Absolutely no no no to privatization in general and to big Corps who owe NOTHING to the taxpayer or voter.

What on EARTH does anyone think a Corporation is going to protect any of your interests? On what planet do you live?

What you want running the show is us. THAT is government. We just need it to be a Conservative government not some multinational corp answerable to China.

It blows me away that a true conservative think that somehow a large corporation answerable to a foreign government or foreigners can be our friend in ANY way shape or form. If we don’t guard the gate, no one will. Maybe that’s the problem. Maybe like the LibTards we have been duped to. If so ... we are our own worst enemy and America’s.

The US eats crap today.

Over 90% of our seafood is imported.

Our quality domestic food, like salmon is exported to Japan, because they pay top dollar.

Foreign countries use various factory methods of fish farming that is disgusting.

US companies don't like country of origin labeling because 'we' like to know where our food comes from.

“Were we to be told by Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want for bread” - - - T. Jefferson.

I just returned from Publix market in Miami where very large, nicely ripened Bing cherries were available for the third week in a row for $1.99 per pound. These are twice the size of those available some years ago, and the price in constant value dollars is less.

Keep Washington out of the food industry - Jefferson was right.

If we let government manage the cherry industry, I may soon want for cherries!
