Russias Defence Ministry dismissed accusations on Monday that pro-Russia separatists in Ukraines east were at fault for shooting down a Malaysia Airlines jet last week, alleging instead that Ukrainian warplanes had been flying close to the plane.
The ministry also denied accusations that Russia had supplied the separatists with SA-11 Buk anti-aircraft missile systems which are known as Gadfly in NATO or any other weapons.
Russian air space control systems detected a Ukrainian Air Force plane, presumably an SU-25 (fighter jet), scrambling in the direction of the Malaysian Boeing, Lieutenant-General Igor Makushev of Russias Air Forces told a news briefing. The distance of the SU-25 plane from the Boeing was from 3 to 5 kilometres (2 to 3 miles).
The ministrys comments came as the Netherlands announced that prosecutors had opened an investigation into the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, which claimed the lives of all 298 people on board, 193 of whom were Dutch citizens

Yup. I pegged you. You’re all in for Putin. I believe you’re in love with him.
You don’t know anything, and you keep making that painfully clear...
All you are here to do is make sure that any common sense, logical discussion of these events doesn’t happen.
Wiping out Russian culture? Do you remember the millions of Ukrainians slaughtered and starved when Russians were trying to wipe out Ukrainian culture? Do you know even now your main man Putin denies that Ukraine is a different country? You’re being foolish in your love of Putin.
That was 8 decades ago. So, do you believe in blood guilt?
And you’re only here to defend Putin and terrorism.
Makes me wonder with Obama so set at dividing this country I should not be surprised it's hit FR as well. Rather than seeing the level headed people here, as we've had in the past, it looks to be a bunch of headstrong people with something else on their minds then the facts at hand....or gathering of.
Ukraine had no place to go but ‘messier’...it's the nature of the nations peoples. Maidan believed they could manage their revolution...but they had their hands in US pockets...and it took no time for the wild side of Ukraine's Oligarchs to put into play their brood of vipers,...these fellows weren't about ready to give up control of their cushioned life and corruption within the Gov....deeply rooted and years in the making...of which Poroshenko and Yats were a part of. Now they're leading the country...LOL.
All should have recognized what Ukraine would become when Maidan went completely ballistic. Fire and brimstone are NOT a “peaceful” peoples. They were hijacked...no two ways about it.... WAR was ‘a certainty’ to follow,( this seems to be reoccurring everywhere the US has it's hands now)..and here they are...AGAIN!
Thank you for posting....refreshing in light of the bombardment going on on these threads. Appreciated.

I believe the Russians have a long history of trying to wipe out the Ukrainians. You’re just foolish enough to think genocide is no big deal.
...” Russia simply recklessly gave such weapons to a bunch of goons they fund and call “separatists”, or Russian operators were on the scene and screwed up just as bad”.....
Well with that kind of thinking then all the deaths and bombardment, destruction and deaths of citizens in East Ukraine is the fault of the US/EU for supplying Ukraine/Kiev with tanks, missles etc.
Seems to me there’s plenty of blame to go all around for every party in this theater of war...and it is a war.

You’re kidding me. You’re saying you truly believe that the US has given the Ukraine tanks and lethal aid. Because if you do say that, you’re either a liar or a fool. I know for a fact it hasn’t happened. And this is one more propaganda attempt by an ignorant Putinista trying to establish moral equivalence to protect Putin for what he gave his proxies.
Where is your evidence for that???

I’ll play Putinista and demand a link for that charge. That is a fairy tale. The EU/US never supplied “tanks and missiles” to Ukraine.
...”common sense, logical discussion of these events”....
They cannot as they have a vested interest in the past. Some have family members in Ukraine, others have family members who lost life in past USSR conflicts. We see this playing out on the threads....’emotions’ are sky high and reflect mostly that.
When people live ‘in’ the past, (and you can be mindful of it without living in it), and that past has not been dealt with in heart...then there’s no place to go with reason when every line regarding Russia is viewed through the lens of the USSR era....and that’s what they’re doing.

Well caww, you have been caught in a great big lie —
Putin and the Kremllin should be proud — of the lie, of course — not the getting caught part.
Putin has now killed over 1,000 people since April in Ukraine including 80 kids just a few days ago. Even after that carnage Putinists never miss a chance to blow him kisses saying: “Job well done, comrade”.
I also protect Bush 1, the former CIA director.
I'm pretty sure we aren't sending the Ukraine tanks and missiles. I know they want lethal aid, but I do believe our feckless leader Obama chose to give the Ukraine MRE's and non lethal aid instead.
Seems to me theres plenty of blame to go all around for every party in this theater of war...and it is a war.
Yes, that will be the excuse Putin uses. When your hands are all over the shootdown of a civilian airliner, the "well there is plenty of blame to go around" argument is the first fall back position.
That’s true. I wonder if they were for Putin when Putin’s work helped sustain the Gulag. Well, they probably see those sixteen years as a youthful indiscretion for the second generation communists secret policeman, like his father they both were thugs.
