Jackson’s right to demand information is that the liberals and media have decided that he is a key spokesman for black America.
Of course there is no such position, but he’s been anointed by the media and liberals into such a position. Sharpton is another who has been anointed into such a position.
So then, as Jackson issues his edicts, the media and liberals carry his water, and the pressures are brought to bear against companies for their alleged “racism”. And then Jackson can shake them down.
He couldn’t do what he does, if he didn’t have the liberals and the media support.

I can tell Jesse about Twitter USER diversity: when I accidentally click on a frivolous, obscene or ‘urban’ hashtag I get a flood of ignorance, misspellings, and what might charitably be described as an attempt to transcribe pidgin English. If I do a search on Obama or a pet phrase of the left, I get similar results along with lots of retweets of liberal so-called profundities that are the usual warmed-over statist slogans.
Actually it is the fact that liberals and key media don't give a crap about his corporate extortion efforts as long as it somehow makes capitalism and corporate operations look bad.

The only “corporate entities” that have the Obama blessings are those that have capitulated their investor interests to Obama’s interests. General Motors is the prime example.
