I’m not seeing the big deal here. Only about 1/3 of taxpayers itemize and are able to make any use of charitable deductions. Of those people only maybe 1 or 2 percent will be audited. So the chance of anyone taking a charitable deduction and having a problemis nil.

Im not seeing the big deal here.
I think it's more of a tax implication for churches themselves than donors to those churches.
The endgame here seems to be to reclassify certain religious doctrines commonly preached from the pulpit as 'political speech'...so it can be regulated to the point where those institutions can no longer claim their religious exemption.
It's not like the IRS can be considered an objective 'monitor' here in any way, shape, or form here either. I can see this having impact on the 1st amendment.
