we may change the GOP yet
**********
Not trying to be argumentative, but I think you underestimate the staying power of the GOP. The party is backed and funded by very powerful and intrenched financial interests and the status quo culture is deeply ingrained. IMHO trying to change the GOP is a fool’s errand and a costly exercise in futility.
The DJIA is correcting because the Fed is winding down its heroin injections-—not because of GOP primary results.
I’m afraid I agree with everything you said.
I voted for Wolf...which was not an easy decision to make. While I liked his positions, Wolf did have a built in ‘scandal’ that would certainly follow him to the general election and possibly lose a conservative seat in the senate. And at a national level, on a lot of the ‘big’ issues, that headcount is very important.
But, I decided to ‘put up or shut up’ - the TEA Party will never get anywhere, if we use ‘winability’ as a litmus test.
And like you I am afraid that Roberts’ mind is fading. And, I can’t imagine him running again - so this term we will see how an untethered Roberts votes.
We in Kansas have done this to ourselves (and I suspect many other states are the same). The same old dinosaurs get elected to the senate, practically unchallenged, for decades.

So what do you suggest instead then?
“Well, that is the exact scenario we have in the TN Primary coming up tomorrow. Well see if your hypothesis proves true. I sure hope so.”
Well, different constituency. Tennessee tends to be more moderate/liberal than Kansas. But we’ll see.
I would prefer to see the Tea Party go it alone. When the SHTF in this country both parties are going to be blamed by the American people, and rightly so. Their support for big government, big spending, special interests, and cronyism has been taking the country down for decades.
The Tea Party is well positioned to claim the moral and philosophical high ground. It actually believes in something. All it needs is a strong national leader to stand on its own. Just my humble opinion and hope.
Wolf and his supporters have tried to claim he was a "youngster" when he did his Xray stunt - excuse me, he was doing his internship as a physician, not some teenager.
This gives one a glimpse into the man's character and when questioned about his own behavior, he verbally attacks his questioners, especially if they were women. What's up with that?
The fact is in Kansas, at least, there are any number of genuine conservatives that have voting and real character, not one that has to make up his own "history" and have his own ads claim him "a hero." What has he ever done to make him "a hero" but loudly proclaim his relationship to Obama?
Kansas is not beholden to any TEA Party leader from somewhere else who demands that we elect their choice of candidate for us. Wolf's money and supporters all came from outside the state.
FYI - We like picking our own candidates and not ones who are "introduced to us" whom we already know and don't like!

You answered the Kansas question with your comments. Wolf was a poor candidate choice. He was brought in by somebody outside the Kansas. His funds came from outside the state. Roberts is a son of Kansas. He is support throughout the state. I do agree that he is not as sharp as he might’ve been 15 or 20 years ago. But he retained integrity which is something that Wolf did not. My guess is Sen. Roberts will stay in office couple more years. Then Gov. Brownback will have the opportunity to appoint a replacement when Sen. Roberts retires. Before the end of the six-year term.
I know it's before general election but Roberts won't have much trouble, however word out on the street is Wolf is planning playing the role of spoiler, leaning on a write-in in November.
That way, he can probably draw away enough votes to hand the seat to the Democrat!
If that were to happen, Wolf would be poison for any future office, at least in KS.
Tennessee tends to be more moderate/liberal than Kansas.

You’re kidding; right? Kansas has long been known to be a Republican state, but a “liberal” Republican state.

Ok. You may be right. I was judging by who they’ve elected, Alexander and Corker, etc.
If you’re right and Roberts (who votes more conservatively) only got 48 percent in a moderate state, then Alexander (who votes like a liberal) may be defeated tonight. Or squeak by with the help of the third guy/spoiler.

I’ll be watching. If TN has a Run-off Election and the “third guy / spoiler” keeps him under 50%, it might NOT be over tonight. Does TN have a Run-off or do you know?
