Former Washington Redskins tight end and Tea Party-backed candidate, Clint Didier, seeking to replace the retiring Congressman Doc Hastings in Washington States 4th congressional district, advanced against a crowded field of Republican hopefuls in Tuesdays GOP primary. Didier, who won two Super Bowl rings playing in Super Bowls XVII and XXII under coach Joe Gibbs, is a farmer residing in Eltopia, WA.
Because of Washington States somewhat unusual top-two primary system, which advances the leading two vote-getters regardless of party status, Dan Newhouse, a GOP establishment-backed candidate and top money fundraiser in the race thus far, will also advance to the general election in November with no Democrat in the race.
With the last results updated by the Washington Secretary of State at 9:22 PM Pacific time on Tuesday evening, Didier led Newhouse, 30.44% to 26.64%.
In February of this year, Didier delivered a passionate National Tea Party Address, and listed ten scripted plays he would like to see completed, which read like a Tea Party manifesto:
1) Restore the Rule of Law, by recognizing and adhering to our Constitution, which is the Supreme Law of the Landthis nations fundamental law, which gives America its sovereignty. 2) Recognize and adhere to the Bill of Rights, especially the Second Amendment, which guarantees the other nine. 3) Repeal Obamacare. Unshackle our industries from this crippling regulatory action, and get America back to work. 4) Abolish the Federal Reserve 5) Get our currency back on the gold standard. 6) Stop all foreign aid. 7) Stop all unconstitutional wars. 8) Secure our borders. 9) Review all agencies that were created by executive order, and if found unconstitutional, defund them. 10) Get the United Nations out of the United States, and the United States out of the United Nations.
While Washington State is viewed as a liberal state because of the far-left dominance of highly populated King County, which encompasses Seattle, the eastern portion is much more conservative.
Newhouse is a former state agriculture director who served under then Democrat Governor Chris Gregoire and received support from agribusiness giant Monsanto.
It is the first time in Washington States history, according to the Associated Press, that two candidates in a U.S. House race of the same party have advanced to the general election.
Gadzooks! Looks like I have to take one Deadskin... off the list--
But I still have my marching... orders!
lol
When I was a kid growing up in Texas in the 1950s just about everybody was a Democrat and a Conservative... that is except for Ralph Yarborough and those looney toons in Austin.
Texas is nowadays mostly Republican and Very Conservative. Ralph is long gone... but the looney toons are still in Austin--
Clint Walker; Clint Eastwood; Clint Didier.
Sounds good to me.
Yes they are still in Austin, they nested there and bred.... *shudder*
Yes, and he passed away a few weeks ago.
You hit the nail on the head. That is precisely what they are planning to do with the total complicity and support of the Democrat establishment.
I can hear Bender’s voice when I read that post.
Trying to remember.
He ran for senator did he not?
Against one of dem twin rubber stamping broads we have in DC?
He can win in that 4 district easy. I think.
Newhouse won’t win no matter what kind if money he has coming in. He only has name recognition in Yakima county where he’s from. The only thing that may sink Clint’s chances is if he says something stupid like that idiot in Missouri a few years back.
That won’t play well in conservative 4th district.
Didier will win this race. It won’t be close.
I believe a measure to allow that in Oregon is going to be on the ballot this year, also.
That's funny.
Anyone who remembers when Didier played knows his only job was to run back and forth in motion behind the line of scrimmage until the ball was snapped and handed to Riggins.
Doc served my former Western Washington home well for the last 20 years.
I look forward to Clint doing the same.
Guess I got lost since then.....Eastern Washington....Kennewick....
The coaching staff design the plays. If that was the case, he did his job. That is why football is called a 'team' sport.
