If the election were held today, the results would look much as they did in June, with Democrats holding a slight edge (41-37 percent). But among those who are more enthusiastic than usual about voting, Republicans have a lead (47-40 percent).

To me, the most telling number is the 41 - the percentage of people who STILL support the nitwit they picked to destroy the United States.

39 seems to be Obama’s bottom. I’ve seen poll after poll after poll and he never falls below that number.

I’m sure it’s lower, but they have to try and prop up Dear Leader.

Clinton showed that there is a 40% block of Democrats in this country who will support the person with a “D” after their name no matter who that person is or what they have done.

Exactly. And the Dims had an enthusiasm gap going into the 2012 elections and we see how that turned out.

I read the polls and I hate the polls and I don’t trust the polls. Wish I had an FF button to election day.

We have to realize that America is undergoing a dumbing down. People aren’t tuned into politics. They watch the Kardashians. They want to be entertained by Maher. The education system brainwashes and pop culture adds to that. I am intrigued by college grads who can’t speak properly and one word that floors me is “literally.” The way people misuse this is startling. Last night, while flipping through channels (I do enjoy “American Pickers” on History Channel at times) I came across an episode of the Kardashians and heard the female lead say to her mother “Like, omigod are you LITEREALLY reading that magazine again?” This must be one source of the stupidity of America’s youth.

I was in New York recently and saw a newspaper column refer to a segment of the population as “zombies,” referring to the dolts who have heads down looking at their toy gadgets while walking and bumping into people or stepping off curbs into traffic. I saw a poll of Massachusetts voters recently, too, and saw how many people are in favor of abortions and more so how many want not restrictions to abortions and then saw numbers for/against the death penalty. How can people be in favor of killing innocent babies yet choose to house murderers and hope they rehab is another phenomenon. Voters are increasingly dumb, dependent and unaware of their surroundings.

The new women who express “independence” are the most dependent people of all. They love Big Daddy Government. Women are increasingly in power and control. Single white women generally vote Dem and that number is rising. We are in dire times.

That just means that the left will step up its attacks on Republicans.

Very well put. And the “men” are just drugged-out dropouts. Big story in Atlanta today is about a 19-year-old who drowned in Lake Lanier. He JUMPED IN after the local cops busted an after-hours lakeside drug party. His friends were especially sad to see him go because he was about to “become a father,” so the story says. This is a very affluent area, not the inner city. And stories like that tell me there is no hope anymore. It’s just a matter of time before all of us end up in the lake.

America has simply take a longer time to become collectivist than did the Soviet Union. The commies took the short cut and simply killed all the intelligent people until all that was left was a bunch of sheep-like serfs. They used a long-range goal here in the USA, and simply did as you say- dumbed down the populace via popular culture, re-education in public schools and a free press that morphed into an Orwellian propaganda machine. Khrushchev knew whereof he spoke when he said "we will bury you". He was probably aware that the apparatus for our destruction was already activated by his agents and fellow travelers, and that like a time bomb, it would eventually achieve the COMMUNIST GOALS.

I remember the “enthusiasm edge” being in President Romney’s favor before his election in 2012, too.

To them, Obama is a raging success.

Correct. The cratering of both Bushes’ numbers was driven by Conservatives abandoning them. The Dems don’t abandon their leaders, even in the face of their leaders turning into abject failures.

I think you're right.

Also, I know it's supposed to be a big wave Pub year but I think the pollsters are missing the impact of the GOPe attack on the TEA Party. I know for me unless it's a Ted Cruz type conservative I'm not voting and the GOPe has beaten back a lot of those candidates this year.

“literally.” The way people misuse this is startling.

The one that makes me cringe is "So". Almost every young person on television, spokesman, announcer, pundit, or whatever begins their sentences with SO. Is is some trend now? It just goes through me.

Feel free to substitute with “Conservatives walking away from them in disgust”, if you’d prefer ...

With the Bushes, the disgust with conservatives is mutual.

Have you come across "Yeah, no"? I asked someone earlier this week which she meant as that was her response to me. I suggested she had an option "Yes" or "No" but not both. I have heard "Yeah, no" frequently in recent months but this was a rare time in which I had the opportunity to directly reply. And for the record, I am still perplexed by "And I was like omigod" as a singular response to situations and that phrase is old.
