Gov. Brown Denies Parole to Manson Follower Bruce Davis
NBC Bay Area ^ | Saturday, Aug 9, 2014

Gov. Jerry Brown reversed a parole board and denied on Friday the release of a former Charles Manson follower who served more than 43 years in prison.

It was the third time a California governor denied the release of Bruce Davis, 71, a member of the murderous Manson Family who was convicted in the 1969 slayings of musician Gary Hinman and stuntman Donald "Shorty'' Shea. In March, the parole board once again found that he was suitable for parole based on his age, conduct in prison, he became a born-again Christian in prison, earned a doctoral degree in philosophy of religion, ministers to other inmates, and other factors.

“In March, the parole board once again found that he was suitable for parole based on his age, conduct in prison, he became a born-again Christian in prison, earned a doctoral degree in philosophy of religion, ministers to other inmates, and other factors.”

That’s admirable. However he’s still responsible for the deaths of two people that didn’t have a chance to live full lives.

Those were notably vicious murders. Forget parole.

IMO, anything these evil vicious people did after the murders was for their own benefit or enjoyment. None of it makes up for anything they did. They should have been executed by now.

They should never be released.

This is the big argument from the Left. “Just give them life. They’ll never get out.” Well, here they are almost out.

You’ll never see this referenced when they plead for a life sentence will you.

“he became a born-again Christian in prison,”

That explains it.

I agree wholeheartedly. All this does is try to make this guy and others like him sympathetic figures.

Well then. Gov. Brown gets one right. I would not have bet on it.

These people murdered people who are the very core of the Democratic Party. They killed people on the Hollywood A list. Now if they had confined their murders to suburban types, Brown would be in a more charitable mood.

I agree.

Look, I believe in people coming to God and “born again” in prison. It doesn’t erase their crime, and the penalty. It probably will help them avoid God’s judgement if they are sincere.

Those murders were vile, Satanic, and uncalled for. They were just acts out of the blue for nothing, to start some imaginary race war Charlie Manson had dreamed up.

The Left got the death penalty struck down, so all the death sentences related to the Manson Murders were commuted to life.

These people should have been dead 25-30 years ago.

While that did raise the profile, I don’t think seven murders like those would have gotten any less severe of a sentence in a middle class neighborhood.

Carving that baby out of Tate’s stomach, and the “Helter Skelter” blood text on the walls, it was a very high profile crime no matter the victims.

That’s my take. Others may disagree.

Whatever happened to murderous Manson drone ‘Tex’ Watson?
There was a boy born with the face of a man to be hanged.

PS I think Watson owned both the Ruger .22 and the Buck knife.
Hard to believe they weren’t hanged.

Patricia Krenwinkel is still incarcerated 45 years later.
She has been denied parole every time she has applied.
Let them all rot.

I think the only reason Gov Brown got this one right is because he lived through the time and in the place (CA) of the crimes. Otherwise, he would have made some hippie dippy abstract argument to let him out.

I often find the far left making decisions on what they THINK they know, and that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Charlie Manson should have been gassed or fried years ago. Damn Liberals let him off with LIFE in prison.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Manson

“Manson’s death sentence was automatically commuted to life imprisonment when a 1972 decision by the Supreme Court of California temporarily eliminated the state’s death penalty.”[3]
