First question: Was he on anti-depressants?

Dunno, but it's definitely one of the first things to rule out (or in).

They call it freebasing. It’s not free, it costs you your house! It should be called homebasing! Three signs you’re addicted to cocaine: First of all, if you come home to your house and you have no furniture and your cat’s going “I’m outta here, prick!,” Warning! Number two: If you have this dream where you’re doing cocaine in your sleep and you can’t fall asleep, and you wake up and you’re doing cocaine, BINGO! Number three: if on your tax form it says, “$50,000 for snacks,” MAYDAY!

Another good movie.

Dead Poets Society.

Carpe diem. Sieze the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.

Williams and Jonathan Winters were great friends. Winters was Williams’ hero.

Perhaps that was the reason Winters never gave in, and Robin did.

I don’t know that we are disagreeing.

I see the spiritual healing, accepting help from counseling all as working wonders, and not constant heavy drugs, rationalization or self reliance. Perhaps I was unclear in my post.

It makes me think of him in What Dreams May Come, where he died in a car accident and his wife died by suicide.

Everyone has different taste. I can hardly find any references to that movie in press releases on him, yet it's one of my favorite movies that he made. Very sad movie yet the emotions displayed were strong. Because he starred in that movie I would think suicide would be the last thing he would do to himself.

If he was bipolar, you obviously are clueless. It’s a disease and has nothing to do with being a coward!

“Suicide just seals your ticket to hell quicker.”

Oh stop it. Be civil. Now is not the time to prosylitize. Save it for church.

>> “ Jesus loves us, even if we stray.” <<

.
Try reading his word.

Hebrews 6:

[1] Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
[2] Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
[3] And this will we do, if God permit.
[4] For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
[5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
[6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

True. Telling someone to cheer up or buck up won’t work. Most depressions are caused by a distorted sense of reality and can be cured with cognitive therapy. Many times it can be done with self help.

many comedians live by the acceptance of their audiences but really that is a substitute for God within. I believe Robin was very much like that and his conscience must have bothered him a lot. If he had listened to the wonderful advice at fhu.com, this could have been prevented.

Familiar with Robin Williams, but was trying to think of what movies I had seen him in. Not that many come to think of it. Remember him for his supporting role in Night at the Museum more of recent. Saw parts of Awakenings. Probably saw the World According to Garp a long time ago, but I can’t remember much about it. I think I saw the Fisher King at the movie house, but that was probably because Jeff Bridges was in it. REALLY enjoyed him in Mrs. Doubtfire!!! My kids love that one, too. Saw kind of a creepy one with him and Toni Collette called Night Listener. And I can remember my brother said he was good in One Hour Photo. And I used to listen to his comedy tapes/albums in my young adulthood.

I know he said some statements over the years that showed his left leaning tendencies, but I did enjoy him in the few things I saw and heard. Very sorry to hear about this. Rest in peace.

That’s so tragic. I liked him in Mrs. Doubtfire and Mork and Mindy, Good Morning, Vietnam. Some of his off-script stuff was good, too. He was loved by many, he didn’t have to go so soon...even if he was a Liberal.

Is there even a person taking the Gospel to Hollywood? (Yes, I KNOW he had a mental illness) So many struggling people there, yet probably the most adverse to help.

Church is where most of the lies and rationalizations posted to this thread came from.

Let’s stick with the Word of our creator, that is truth and life, all else is false.
