Sounds like a seminar narrative. What is your opinion?

Scare older people eh?

Like telling them they’re going to eat dog food if you elect a Republican?

Or they’ll take your social security away if you elect a Republican?

You mean like that? What comes out every election cycle over and over for the last 40+ years and yet somehow never happens.

Lying a-holes.

“Andrew W.K.’s advice to his letter-writer — telling him to get over himself and tolerate his annoying right-wing father —”

Or maybe he could just move out of his dad’s basement.

If anything, I’ve found it’s libs that can’t keep their opinions to themselves at any one time.

They’re constantly voicing how emotional they are about “random lib issue” and want to know how you feel about “random lib issue”, as if logic doesn’t enter into it.

Beginning to formulate a theory that a higher percentage of liberals are manic/depressive...

Us (people 65+) are completely devastated with todays society simply because we lived through the good America that once was and clearly see demise of morality, freedoms, responsibility for one’s own actions, racial favoritism, the hatred of any law or rule that is actually enforced, crime out of control, and worse yet a congress and presidency that represents and promotes socialism.

The day you could leave the house unlocked is far past us for laws are only enforced based upon race, gender, physiological factors, or just plain politics.

Hell yes, us geezers are consumed with the politics of today because we once were free and the new generation has no conception of that freedom we once had. It’s the “boiling frog” syndrome all over again.

My wife and I are just the opposite. We (mainly myself) have to listen quietly to one my step-daughter's liberal diatribes because I don't want to be responsible for my step-daughter refusing to let my wife see her own grandchildren. My wife's daughter has already denied her husband's mother permission to see her own grandchildren for some silly transgression. So I have to bide my time before I start arguing politics with my step-daughter.

p.s. The sister of my liberal step-daughter has a conservative father-in-law who freely talks politics in front of anybody including my liberal step-daughter. She complained about it my wife and me one time. We just looked at each other later and laughed. My lib step-daughter has no right to talk. She's a huge hypocrite in that matter.

The problem is the way people argue. They do not discuss. They don’t debate. They don’t “ground” the conversations, meaning a acknowledgement of “love the sinner, hate the sin.” We have been conditioned to “fight.”

Politics is a stupid thing to discuss with people you love.

Rod Dreher is about as “conservative” as David Brooks or Susan Collins.

Liberals don’t see their political diatribes as “politics”. They see them as “just the way things are”. When it comes to “gay marriage”, there can only be agreement. Agreement is just the way things are. If you disagree with them, it is right-wing Hate politics.

Their biggest problem is that they don’t really understand why they believe what they believe. That’s why they never defend their position. Their responses are always things like “That’s not true” or “You’ve been watching Fox News” or “That’s so mean-spirited”. They never can substantiate their belief. It’s too much trouble.

if you want to silence a liberal, don’t disagree with them. Just keep pushing them for data to support their belief.

If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one. If a DemocRat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a DemocRat is a
vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a DemocRat is
homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. If a DemocRat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels. A
DemocRat demands that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church. A DemocRat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. If a DemocRat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his health care.
