I respect your opinion. There are details that have not emerged I’m sure. I nevertheless believe that holding police officers to be above the citizenry in any way is foolish and destructive to liberty. The sound of a policeman’s command should be met with instant compliance? That is truly a tyrannical point of view. Appeals to public safety notwithstanding,a man is dead, quite
likely as a direct result of the cop in this case feeling disrespected.

To top this off, the policeman’s identity is being withheld for his safety. A special class, they are.

The resulting killing seems waaaay excessive. No doubt. However, if a law is being broken by the defendant, the defendant puts himself at the risk of being approached by LE. And actually, that is the way it should be for everyone. Aside from that, no, a police command need not be met with instance compliance.
