Sure, he says that in Iowa. No ulterior motive for that, no none at all. /sarc

Nobody should trust politicians. Nobody should vote for politicians who change their stances on major issues when they consider a run for a higher office.

and the best thing for the Feds would be to drop the whole issue.

You are correct. Who has been the biggest promoter and enabler of the change of marriage? Its been the Federal Government. Some Conservatives think they are going to beat the progressives at their own game by simply having someone different at the top dictate society's behavior. That will never happen. The goal should be to LIMIT Federal power, and especially eliminate any Federal influence in the realm of marriage and family.

correct -

the traditional family was designed in creation to be the foundation of society - of people living together in peace. One man, one woman producing the next generation, teaching the young and training the offspring to take their place in a productive world which knows and loves the Creator..

"the traditional family was designed in creation to be the foundation of society"

I hope all candidates agree with that.

Paul isn’t running for local political office, he is running for president, to head and fight for federal government.

The feds HAVE to have policy on gay marriage in the military, federal employment, immigration, foreign policy, court appointments, etc., and Rand Paul is admitting that he is OK with it, by telling you to vote for him even as he pretends that he won’t have any influence either way.

Rand Paul is lying.

**Paul had previously said that marriage was not a defining Republican issue, and members of the party could “agree to disagree” on the matter.**

He may want to consider what God established.

Genesis 1

English Standard Version (ESV)

26 Then God said, “Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in his own image,
    in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Exactly. Rand Paul has very carefully crafted a meme that will trick many into thinking he opposes same-sex "marriage;" but, the reality is that he not only will do nothing to stop it, he will actually ensure that it continues to spread.

This is exactly the same as the "I'm personally opposed, but..." line that Democrats came up with on abortion.

here yet again Paul is trying to have it both ways, just like the border issues.

No Paul you might favor them , but it does not mean that you oppose anything goes except normal marriage.

I find myself conflicted over Gay marriage because as a conservative/libertarian I abhor the idea of Govt involvement is personal business.

But as a social conservative, I understand the importance of society to protect traditional family and the vested interest of the state to promote traditional families.

However, I also challenge the Church's in this country to get serious about sexuality and family... hint to all you pastor and priests out there, odds are the people asking to get married in your sacred building are living together. I have witnessed church goers telling the young to lie to the priest/pastor about living together.

Ultimately it is the church that should bring back the family.

You ARE conflicted. My, my!

A conservative/libertarian? Is that anything like being a little bit pregnant?

One is either a conservative or a lib. Can’t be both. Choose a side.

So he believes that the Federal Government has no business in protecting the foundation of civilization. It’s like saying the federal government has no business in regulating people killing each other: let the states decide what constitutes murder.

And as a practical matter, the Federal government via the SCOTUS has already made it its business in Windsor; the “leave it to the States” ship has already sailed. You either fight it at the Federal level or you don’t.

The government is not telling who can have personal relationships with whom; it’s codifying that which has been defined for thousands of years.

That's the libertarian way of doing things; they are happy to take a stand on any issue, but they have no interest in actually taking action.

When was the government not involved in marriage?
