Its very moving to see the outpouring of appreciation for the late Robin Williams. Williams, who died last night in an apparent suicide in his Marin County home, had a particular connection to National Review, having done a crackerjack impression of founder William F. Buckley that ended up with Buckleys signature manner being immortalized in the Disney film Aladdin.
That Aladdin bit was an outgrowth of a more extensive WFB Williams did in a Saturday Night Live parody of Firing Line ...

People who put drugs in their mouth make that decision knowing well the potential consequences. ....the risk they take is the root of their own problem...not the availability of the drugs.
I was waiting for someone to play that. Nickelodeon used to play that on that dreadful variety show for kids, Turkey Television
According to the excerpt, the "our" is National Review because of Williams' impressions of William F. Buckley.

How much money did this fellow blow through in his life? He made his choices. Apparently, a number of them were bad ones.
He wasn't as manic or as irreverent or as offensive in his later years than he was starting out. Some people will say he wasn't as funny, but I wasn't really a fan of his earlier manic rants.
The thing is, though, that the guy some of the NRO commenters really hated may not necessarily have been who Robin Williams was in recent days. The Williams of thirty or forty years ago had as much to do with the era as with Williams himself.
Well it is said he had a generous heart with his money...but the fact he had villas etc. worth millions does say much more than this.
Hollywood keeps up with the other Hollywood Standards....pay or don’t play.
People ... make that decision knowing well the potential consequences ...
This is true. However the media is purposefully not making the connection that the children seeking asylum into the US because of the violence in their own countries is due to the drug cartels and the market for the cocaine here in the US.
Stop the drugs instead of importing the children who most likely will become drug runners anyway.
Depression is horrible - I’ve had personal experience with it.
But the legacy you leave your family by killing yourself is inexcusable!!
Did you ever observe a word of truth from him? Did he even try? I remember him as being rather proud of teaching vulgarity to kids. Of course, may the Lord have mercy on his soul.
....”the children seeking asylum into the US because of the violence in their own countries is due to the drug cartels and the market for the cocaine here in the US”.....
So what?.... It’s not our problem....They’re passing through Mexico to get here. Let Mexico and the S. American countries deal with them.....we need to stop them from entering here and return the ones that are here.
great videos
NRO is becoming unreadable. Too many pop-ups, ads and it’s slow to load.
I did like him in Patch Adams and Good Will Hunting. He was able to crack the pain of the character Matt Damon played; by sharing his pain, his faults, his mistakes.
Also, Robin loved the troops and took time out of his life and career to spend time with our troops. More then I can say for many of the other left wing Liberals.
...”Stop the drugs “...
One other thing...this will never happen...we’ve had years to do this and they are more plentiful then ever. What does that tell you about the efforts to stop drugs? They aren’t about ready to do so...it’s too much a money maker for those who affect elections.
“They aren’t about to do so..”
100 percent correct. The democrats in power will NEVER address the root issues. The RINOS too.
Anyone who thinks the ‘stop the drugs efforts’ were anything more than funneling money elsewhere has got to have their head in the sand.
When the Government cries out “we’re helping”....you better figure we’re getting taken yet again.
same with the pro-drug side, all criminals
