At least one sheriff questioned the wisdom of Perrys decision to send military people into the area who are not authorized to stop anyone, according to the Dallas Morning News article by Christy Hoppe. I dont know what good they can do, Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said of military personnel. You just cant come out here and be a police officer.
In nearby Brooks County, a different perspective was offered. We have a different view here in Brooks County, Sheriffs Office Chief Deputy Benny Martinez told Breitbart Texas in an interview on Tuesday. In Brooks County, we have a lot of dead bodies. Brooks County surrounds the city of Falfurrias, Texas.
His blunt comment refers to the 43 illegal immigrants who have already lost their lives in the ranches in his county. Governor Perry and General Nichols used the term Deter and Refer when talking about the role to be played by the Texas National Guard, Martinez continued. That works well for us.
He explained that the deterrence effect of the National Guard in the border counties will slow down the number of people being dropped off to potentially die in his county. I want to save lives on this end, he explained. The deployment will deter deaths in Brooks County.

good information
Sure it is just a B/S PR stunt. More of LaRaza Ricarrdo Perrynista’s continuing, (and succeeding, sadly), attempts to continue to snow over what is left of his fans. There are still a few that are fooled by the Globalist/illegals lover Rickeeee. And no, I do not have an answer why some otherwise very intelligent folks are fooled by this guy.
Then he should do it, not put on a political kabuki dance with the National Guard.
Okay. . .do what?
Have the Guard shoot people?
Guard is not law enforcement.
Previous post explains their use.
Seriously, what do you feel the Guard should do, seriously.
Stay home would be nice, spend the money on real police or Sheriffs Posse. National Guard should be used for military operations, and this is not that.
Military used a campaign props is disgusting.
Police and sheriffs are local costs and the state does not fund those ops.
National Guard are not limited by posse comitatus (unless federalized), and can be legally used for maintenance of social order, as well as repelling invasion.
Guard is funded by the sate and can be deployed to patrol the border (deter and report), and if attacked, fight back.
You may feel this is a political stunt. I think not.
What I find disgusting, since you used the word, is people demanding all-out action but not recognizing funding issues or legal limitations, but demanding action nonetheless, and when action is taken taken, within the Texas constitution’s balanced budget requirement, accusing it of being a ‘stunt.’
Pay to keep them out or pay to keep them, your choice.
