"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Texas constitution directs the governor to protect the state from invasion.

He is within his rights to do so.

>> While some leaders along the border appear to be concerned about a “militarization” of the border region

Hello!!?! It’s a BORDER of a SOVEREIGN NATION.

It OUGHT to be “militarized”. As are MOST of the dxmned borders between MOST of the sovereign nations in the WHOLE WORLD.

Those crossing illegally (i.e. committing a CRIME) need to be stopped, arrested, fingerprinted, jailed, serve LONG prison time, released, deported.

Those who are caught in the act but run or refuse to surrender should be SHOT DEAD.

Very simple questions that I still have not had a clear answer on.

1. Will the Guard be armed with loaded weapons?

2. Will they be authorized to fire those weapons?

3. Will they be able to stop and hold illegals?

Unless the answers are yes, yes, and yes, we are fixing to get some Guards killed.

“...While some leaders along the border appear to be concerned about a “militarization” of the border region,...”

But those same folks aren’t so concerned about “militarization” of our local, county, and state police forces.

Gee... just so I’m clear on this - it’s BAD to “militarize” the border and protect your country - a porous border where potentially hostile individuals could be sneaking in - not to mention a tidal wave of illegal aliens bringing diseases we’ve already beaten, but it’s perfectly FINE to give Barney Fife and Sheriff Andy armored vehicles, body armor, automatic weapons, and grenades and turn them loose on American Citizens.

Gotta love this Brave New World sh*t, huh...?

Yeah, Rick Perry seems to avoid definitive answers.

Just yesterday I saw him asked about stopping illegals and he gave a long winded answer about stopping “illegal impact of criminals crossing the border”.

As far as stopping illegals is concerned, Dewhurst said that federal law requires them to be handed over to ICE and INS.

For all those who are so in luv with Perry - he is choosing a not serious plan - one that is all TV and not much action - given that we have know about this for over a year.

Why not just add 50 DPS troopers for two years, at $40,000 that's 2,000,000 a month they will be much more help can arrest people for crime and then move to other parts of the state on a rotating basis. Then as folks retire they stay on.

Florida State Surgeon General Letter to HHS Regarding Unaccompanied Children—issued by Florida Dept of Health / FR posted by Politico2isBack

July 18, 2014

TO: Sylvia Mathews Burwell
Secretary U.S. Department of HHS
200 Independence Avenue, S.W.
Washington, DC 20201

TO: Craig Fugate
Administrator Federal Emergency Management Agency
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
500 C Street SW
Washington, DC 20472

Secretary Burwell and Administrator Fugate:

The Florida Department of Health has received unconfirmed reports that the federal government is bringing unaccompanied minors from the border to Florida today. On July 17, we received unconfirmed information that dozens of children were being brought by plane into Miami on Friday.

This same day, ABC news reported that “the federal government is so overwhelmed by the current tide of migrants crossing the border it cannot provide basic medical screening to all of these children before transporting them, often by air, to longer-term holding facilities across the country.” (Feds Struggling to Cope with Medical ‘Breakdown’ at the Border, ABC News, July 17, 2014.)

Specifically, ABC News reported that your Health and Human Services Department’s Director of Refugee Health said you,
“identified a breakdown of the medical screening processes.” This breakdown was described in the news report as “a systemic failure of the handoff of these children between Customs Border Protection (CBP) and Health and Human Services (HHS).”

If these reports are accurate, this “systemic failure” in the federal system is extremely worrisome. In order to fulfill my duties as Florida’s State Surgeon General, I am asking you to immediately provide the below information. This information is urgently needed to guard the health and safety of Florida communities across our state and is vital to the well-being of those children from the border who may have come through the flawed federal system.

• Will you notify the Florida Department of Health immediately of any current or future unaccompanied minors coming to, or placed in, Florida, including their current location?

• Are you conducting health screenings both at the border and again at the time the children are placed in shelters?

• What medical services, if any, were provided to any children placed in Florida?

• Do you have any records of infectious diseases associated with the children currently in federal care in Florida?

• Have any of the children been hospitalized in Florida with fevers accompanying their illnesses? If so, where are they being treated?

Because of the urgency of this request, this letter is being immediately emailed and faxed to you. I expect a prompt response to my request for information on existing unaccompanied minors in Florida and would like to stress the importance of future timely communications.

Sincerely,

John H. Armstrong, MD,
FACS State Surgeon General
Secretary, Florida Department of Health

3. Will they be able to stop and hold illegals?

Absolutely not. You see, this is a "Deter and Refer" operation. No APPREHENSION, that would be unkind.

Adj. Gen. John Nichols, commander of the Texas National Guard, told the Morning News that troops would undergo training and be deployed slowly over the next month. The plan would also include sending helicopters to identify suspicious activity and ground troops to provide water and medical assistance to migrants who have entered the country illegally.

"We are not planning on detaining people," Nichols said, but will be "referring and deterring."

For those of you applauding Rick Perry, this is not much more than a PR action on his part meant to look like he is strong on the border issues, when he really isn't.

I'm not impressed until Rick Perry takes some action dramatic enough to cause real conflict with the feds, hopefully to the point of seccession.

It does look like a bit of a cute trick that he hasn't done anything until now, when schools are enrolling new students and opening. Once they're in the public schools, we'll never get rid of the invading hordes or stop them from moving all over the US.

Deter is mere precense causes the illegals to go elsewhere, and refer means to report illegals when they are seen. . .remember, the Guard are not law enforcement and they have not received the education and training Border Patrol, Agents get. . .so. . .Texas Guard can patrol and be seen and ‘deter’ and if they see illegals, they can call and report ‘refer.’

If the Guard is federalized, then the Guard can be placed in Border Patrol Sector HQ’s and processing centers and do the administrative BS duties and babysitting the Agents are now doing, thereby returning the Agents to the field to do their job.

I spoke with a Border Patrol Agent in one of the Texas Border Patrol Sectors, he advises that of about 400 Agents only about 30 are on the line (covering a 24-hr shift and hundreds of miles of border). The rest of the Agents are working in processing centers and babysitting.

"If my house and town were right on the border"

Reading this article you need to know that Brooks county is not on the border. Its probably 60-80 miles from the border.

But there is a permanent highway check point there. When the coyotes bring the illegals up from the border, the illegals get out of the auto well south of the check point then hike around it then back to the road on the north where they get picked up by the coyote.

So the ranchers/landowners close to the check point get a lot of illegals crossing their land.

You have to read all the way to the bottom of the article to find that out.

The article misleads you to think that this sheriff is responsible but actually the BP patrols the area and their effectiveness depends on whether or not the landowners give them keys to the locked gates.
