I believe the Kurds haven’t retreated... they’re reloading. Hopefully they’ll be plussed up with additional divisions formed from displaced Christians and Yazhidis. They have the numbers and once they’re replenished with weapons and ammo, they’ll turn this nefarious tide.

The relatively lightly armed Kurds are up against a murderous and determined opponent equipped with armoured personnel carriers, tanks, artillery, heavy mortars and rocket launchers. US planes and drones should already have spent weeks locating and destroying every stolen tank, personnel carrier, Humvee, artillery piece, and any other military equipment Islamic State has that can be spotted from the air by any method.
If we had anything in the Oval Office that merited being called a president, we'd already have destroyed much of IS's weapons and equipment. We could still deal them a huge blow and practically assure that the Kurds would defeat them, but ...

0bama, don’t let the Kurds lose this one. I know it’s hard for you to do anything that pushes back your favorite buddies, but give it a try.
