Looks That Kill (Ditch the stormtroopers, bring back the Peelers.)

People in places such as Ferguson, Mo., often talk about the police as though they were an occupying force, and there is, in Ferguson and in many other places, a strong racial component. During my time in Philadelphia, the city had a black mayor, a black police commissioner, and a heavily black police force, and the city’s worst crime was concentrated in two black neighborhoods. Police innovations such as sending extra patrols to schools at dismissal time were criticized by community leaders who complained that the police were “targeting” black neighborhoods. Which, of course, they were: That’s where the crime was. The police were of course in an impossible position: On the one hand, they were regarded as unwelcome intruders; on the other, they could not simply abandon those neighborhoods.

But they might seem a little bit less like an occupying force if they didn’t dress like one. If they weren’t armed like one. If they didn’t roll through like one. If they weren’t being told, and telling themselves, that they are “at war.”

Meanwhile...the world burns because useless idiots think lofty policy goals trump brutal human reality.

Wow I never thought I’d see so many freepers supporting the cause of rioters.

To those dummies who do.

This is NOT the Bundy stand off with an unaccountable government agency forcing people to abide by horribly unfair tyrannical laws that make no sense.

Ferguson is the police enforcing legitimate laws against looting, arson, vandalism, theft, shooting people. etc.

Don’t be stupid tools for the ugly racial politics of the left. If you are on the same side of this as Jesse Jackson and Al sharpton then you’ve f-ed up somewhere, big time. Rethink it!

“Lt. Col. Dave Grossman studied the act of killing in war, comparable to formerly taboo sexological studies. Results: ...”

Not sure who this guy Grossman thinks he is, but his numbers are not supportable.

He assumes:

- A universality of combat experience that has never existed.

- That assault troops (foot type) are the only ones who do any killing, or are at least the only participants who matter.

Forum members would be prudent to do some extra checking, before putting any trust in his assertions.

Wasn’t in in Philly where they burned a whole block after dropping ‘bombs” from a helicopter?

Yup. Good catch!

Unless you count Kent State, that was the first warm-up for what we have now. But the victims @ Kent State weren't like us. And Operation Move were crazy black radicals, so even though most of the victims were innocent neighbors, we didn't care too much.

Then came Ruby Ridge. But, that was under Bush I and Randy Weaver was a nasty piece of work. So, who cared?

Then Waco. But, polite society didn't care about those trashy people and their kids getting incinerated.

Then, Elian.

Remember that parable from Nazi Germany about, "First they came for ..."? Well, too late. "It" happened here.

Ruby Ridge was under Janet Reno as AG wasn’t it? Or did I miss something?

In wars prior to Viet Nam, in all recorded history, only 15% of front line soldiers used lethal force, 85% shot over the enemy's head, just postured and blustered to scare the enemy into retreating.

I doubt this is true for the Civil War.

Just look at the numbers killed.

Overall his numbers may be right though, but not for the reasons he assumes.

Considering that 85% of any military force is recruited from cities, and few of them could shoot strait, that leaves 15% from the countryside to do all the accurate shooting, and thereby, killing.

Better check your facts in Ruby Ridge. Randy Weaver was setup by the Feds from the get go. The brutally murdered his unarmed wife and the robot that they sent to the cabin with the phone attached to it so they could try to negotiate with them had a shotgun mounted on it aimed right at the phone.

What did they think was going to happen when they sent in armed, camoflouged agents on to his property, shoot the dog, and then his son returned fire at an unknown shooter?

Why do you think the Feds paid that family millions in damages?

How would you respond to daily pysop tactics the Feds used. After murdering his wife they blasted out on loud speakers “good morning Mrs. Weaver, how’s your baby Mrs. Weaver!

These people and their tactics are disgusting but none of them were ever held accountable.

Better check your facts in Ruby Ridge.

Huh? I know all about Ruby Ridge. It was an American atrocity. What did you think I was saying?

I WAS saying that most Americans and even most conservatives didn't care about it. Blissfully ignorant as our nation devolved ...

My apologies

No prob!

It just struck me about a year ago that the conservatives who were silent or defended Kent State and the Operation Move massacres are just as bad as the lefties who cheered on Ruby Ridge & Waco (and wanted a conflagration in Nevada a few months ago).

Even worse, the vast majority of Americans just don't care!
