Within black families, hard truths told to sons amid Ferguson unrest

When I was in school (20 years ago) big accounting firms would recruit from the tiny National Association of Black Accountants chapter instead of the larger, diverse Accounting Society they had in the past.

Giving them unearned degrees and jobs for which they aren’t qualified hasn’t done a thing to improve their lots in life; fifty years from now we can have another Ferguson incident and reaction (because 50 years of freebies and affirmative action have bought us nothing).

That’s funny; I wasa pulled over for driving an ugly car once (it had been in a fire). The cop asked for my paperwork, handed it back, and left. Didn’t even make up a story about something I did wrong, then “let me off the hook”; he was just annoyed that my ugly car was on his street.

I thought it was very funny at the time, and I still think it is.

Shoplifting is a form of "stealing".

What the photos depict I think is properly termed "robbery", which is stealing from a person aided by intimidation or force.

Since there was no weapon visible, I believe the term "strong-arm robbery" is used.

Since the storekeeper would reasonably have feared great bodily harm, there is an additional crime of "assault".

I listened to a white reporter for the Blaze on Kelly file last night extol this neighborhood as hers. She also said that those who had been arrested for looting, theft, etc., that not a single one so far had been from their community. ALL, she said, were outsiders come in to exploit what was going on.

Simply put: If the black culture STOPS reinforcing the stereotypes ( by being criminals and excusing/supporting them) stereotypes and prejudice will fade. If you want to control people’s REactions to you, you start with controlling your ACTIONS. A generation or two later, the public mind will no longer associate all blacks with crime and sub-human behavior.

You are right about the mindset- therein IS the problem. Black people can say ‘yes, he sells drugs, robs people,been in prison...but he’s a GOOD boy’. It IS normal to be all those things in the black culture-the vast majority- and even the better class blacks get defensive of the lower classes. They have normalized it.

Perfect example: drive by execution of a drug dealer a couple of days ago, here in the lovely ‘Ninth Ward’. Sitting on a porch with neighbors and babies, they were all shot at. They KNEW what he was, but there they were sitting outside with their kids with him and they are honestly surprised that someone sprayed the group with lead! If ‘good’ teens and babies hadn’t been hanging with a known drug dealer they wouldn’t be dead. He was ok to hang with, he should be ok to die with That ‘yeah, he’s a dealer and a thug, but he’s our friend’, is what is behind this whole pathology.
