Ferguson residents on CNN: That’s not Michael Brown in the surveillance video
Hotair ^ | 08/15/2014 | AllahPundit

Via Mediaite, a reminder that no modern tragedy can escape Truther-ization. One woman in the clip, speculating on why the cops waited to release the surveillance footage, says, “It took so long for them to do that because they Photoshopped him.” That’s how cognitive dissonance works in the digital age. In fact, the basic argument made to Don Lemon here seems to be, “It wasn’t him, and even if it was, you’re smearing him, and even if you aren’t, he deserved a jury trial, not summary execution by cop.” The shooting must have been unjustified; take whatever logical path you need to in order to arrive at that conclusion. And needless to say, there are people on the other side following the opposite “logic.”

The woman in the hat is more interesting because she claims the man in the surveillance video was wearing different clothes than Michael Brown was when he was shot. Don Lemon doesn’t ask her how she knows that but I’ve seen that same point made on Twitter today — supposedly, the guy in the clip is wearing shorts and sandals whereas the photo of Michael Brown lying dead on the ground shows him wearing khaki pants and sneakers. I’m not going to link that photo but I’ve seen it and it’s pretty clearly the same clothes. Brown’s shorts were long (as you can see in the surveillance video) and appear to have slipped down a bit sometime before he died; the angle of the photo makes it look as though they run almost to his ankle. That’s probably where the “pants” idea is coming from. The sneakers/sandals confusion is likely due to how his sneakers look in some of the stills from the surveillance video. If you only saw the two images on the right-hand side here, the shadows and cross-wise bands might make you think Brown was wearing something with straps and no heel. The actual footage makes clear that they’re sneakers. And although there’s no Cardinals cap on Brown in the death photo, as there is on the man in the video, there was a Cardinals cap on the ground at the crime scene. There’s a photo of it in the gallery here. But needless to say, none of this will convince anyone who’s invested in a conspiracy theory.

There is one good point made here, though. Ed made it himself in a post this morning. Why’d it take the cops days to accuse Brown of a robbery and to release the footage? The narrative from the beginning was that a rogue cop decided to hassle two black teens who were minding their own business for no reason, then shot one of them in cold blood. If you accepted the first part of that narrative, the second part was easier to swallow. Go figure that a man looking for a fight might be quick to anger with deadly force. But Wilson apparently wasn’t looking for a fight and the PD knew it. He was looking for a robbery suspect. Why didn’t the PD emphasize that sooner?

When you look closely at the video this kid was Brazen about stealing....reaching over the counter to get them from behind the counter...then he drops some of them...and notices the woman who steps into frame...but he walks toward the door like it’s just a normal part of his daily “take” until the clerk catches up to him , who was behind the counter prior.

It always amazes me when people with absolutely no marketable job skills suddenly become experts in software and video manipulation. It’s also funny people in the same general category absolutely butcher the English language but know the proper spelling pronunciation and chemical makeup of promethazine.

Looks to me like good police work by the officer involved. He was responding to the 911 call and probably had a description of the robber(s) and saw Brown walking down the middle of the street, matching the description. So he started to interogate him and Brown got out of control.

Sadly the one that is deceased probably had an academic and sports scholarship to one of the top colleges/universities in the country. No? Geez, I wonder why.

I’d say the police had to have their story 100% verifiable before they made it public. Even now, you have these people who won’t give up their cause trying to say it’s not him. I can’t imagine if the police were actually wrong on any single count. Even though the other side has been wrong on almost every count.

But Brown didn’t know that the officer didn’t know...

****************************

Which makes it very dangerous for the cop. You’ve got someone who knows he’s guilty of a crime .... a cop has stopped him and he thinks the cop knows he’s the perp. For whatever reason (young, STUPID, thinks he’s bigger/tougher, doesn’t want his folks to know what he’s been up to - you name it) he tries to flee or fights back when he comes across weird to the cop who decides to put him in the car until he can figure out what’s going on. Once he starts fighting the cop, then MB has escalated it to a survival situation for the cop and he’s going to do what he needs to do to protect his own life.

I feel sorry for the parents who lost their child - to them, he’ll always be a ‘child’. To the cop, he was a 6’4” almost 300 lb danger to his life. The parents wanted the truth and they’ve got it .... pictures of their child committing a criminal act and robbing a store. Sometimes the TRUTH hurts. BTW, just heard someone on the radio talking about “Swisher Sweet” cigars ... what MB was stealing. These are favorites of marijuana smokers - they pull out the tobacco & replace it with weed.

I do not know about Missouri but in my state, Florida, when a person is killed during a felony, accomplices (can) be charged with the death!

Why’d it take the cops days to accuse Brown of a robbery and to release the footage?

Probably because they needed time to get it and authenticate it. However, I kinda wish they delayed on purpose to make fools at the media and the "eyewitnesses" who jumped to all the wrong conclusions and believed the lies.

The reason for the delay was to thoroughly proof the evidence.

I’m not a CSI, but I’m in love with Abby.

We can rest assured that every piece of clothing visible on the various robbery videos was compared and confirmed to be present on the body at the crime scene. We don’t have but one of the several videos that certainly have more crime scene clothing views.

Then there is other evidence. Given the importance of the robbery scene involved in a police shooting, the place was thoroughly observed for any evidence including fingerprints and perhaps DNA. The case was made before any of the various video and still shots were revealed.

We also don’t know what was learned in interviews with the side kick. If he was a good soldier he clammed up. But if they brought in Gibbs or perhaps Brenda Leigh he moght have cracked.

I guess the lawyer will do his best to make it into a Travon case but he will have a very hard row to hoe. Unlike Trayvon the gentle giant did not commit attempted murder but was almost certainly involved in assault and resisting arrest.

The police were probably quiet to ensure all the evidence was gathered before the agitators could intimidate witnesses and those with the evidence from destroying it.

There’s a CNN reporter on right now trying as hard as he can to twist the story against the police. Doubling down.

"So they are admitting that Brown was a robber but hey that’s all good..but now it turns out that the officer in question didnt even know that Brown was a suspect at the time"

Do we know that, or are libs just saying that? The robbery was reported to police just a few minutes before the altercation with patrol officer, so it seems quite possible that the officer would have known about it.

“They must think we’re as stupid as they apparently are.”

People raised with a Robin Hood mentality generally are dumb as posts. They have enormous blind spots in their thinking that convince them they can get away with things that a person of average intelligence would never even try.

Then they get mad when they’re caught!
