In any sane world, that phrase would be followed by termination notices, and the employee(s) would be escorted to the door with their coffee cup.

You and your family successfully defend your lives, home and possessions from assault by a roving gang of feral "yutes". You've held them off outside Molotov throwing range with proper weaponry and good marksmanship. Those who survived are in retreat and there are a number of dead and dying scattered about.
Law enforcement, which has been extremely busy of late, finally arrives. They assess the situation, check on your well being, then disarm you and leave.
Taxes that go to the Police Department.
So, in this case, the (literal) Looters (Law Breakers) are being protected by Law Enforcement? By NOT interfering?
If this continues, our society is doomed.
It appears that Shockley’s description of differences in cultures and that the bell curves of societal origins overlap might be popping up. Of course he was ostracized by his peers who believe the Tower of Babel could be rebuilt.
Looks like no one took over.....I have read the Missouri HIGHWAY PATROL is now in charge. In case people do not understand, The Highway Patrol is allowed to patrol ONLY Highways (state and federal). They have NO JURISDICTION over town streets, buildings or property. They are NOT State Police, who have jurisdiction anywhere. Where I copped at in Ohio, we had the Highway patrol take control of the state highways and the Sheriff’s department take control of domestics, burglaries and general mayhem while we fought riots or funerals for officers killed in accidents or otherwise. If they aren’t rioting on State Highways, I doubt very much the HIGHWAY PATROL would know what the hell to do any ways.

Sgt. There is nowhere to go anymore. Trust me, I was naïve and thought it could be done. Left Chicago for real rural living. The ghetto will eventually seep into every nook and cranny of this country. It’s just a matter of time.
Shop owners should stop collecting sales tax and hire private security. Disband the Police Department. Better for everyone.
