Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg’s Drinking Problem and Abuse of Power, By the Staggering Numbers
PJ Tattler ^ | August 16, 2014 | Bryan Preston

The indictment of Gov. Rick Perry by a grand jury in Travis County, Texas, is part of a power struggle that originates with a serious crime, albeit not one committed by Gov. Perry.

That crime, as everyone knows by now, is drunk driving, and it was committed by Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg.

When Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, Democrat, was arrested and charged with drunk driving on April 12, 2013, her blood alcohol level measured .23.

That is just shy of three times the legal limit in Texas, which is .08.

According to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, Lehmberg must have consumed about 10 alcoholic drinks in one hour to achieve a .23 blood alcohol rating.

District Attorney Lehmberg also had an open bottle of vodka in her car, violating Texas’ longstanding open container law.

From January 2012 to April 2013 — 15 months — Lehmberg made 59 purchases of alcohol at various Twin Liquors stores, a rate of nearly one purchase a week.

She bought 76 bottles of alcohol. According to the receipts, Lehmberg prefers Ciroc vodka. Lehmberg routinely purchased 1.75 liter bottles of vodka, at a price of nearly $60 each. On occasions, she bought more than one 1.75 liter bottle of Ciroc at a time.

Those 76 bottles add up to 24.7 gallons of alcohol purchased over 15 months. The last purchase in the KEYE-compiled list was on April 2, 2013 — 10 days before her arrest for drunk driving, and the subsequent attempt to abuse her power by trying to intimidate the officers who processed her in jail. Lehmberg purchased vodka on that day. An open bottle of vodka was found in her car during her arrest.

There are two nations within our borders. There is The United States Of America and there is Democratland. The citizens of Democratland believe that they do not need to follow the laws of The United States. Which nation will prevail?

Hung by her own petard.

She looks like the type who would have one of those.

Even David Axelrod is calling this indictment total BS.

My understanding is she is still in her position.

************

Yep she was convicted on Apr. 19, 2013 and served 20 days of a 45 day sentence. In addition
she was fined $4,000 dollars and her drivers license was suspended for 180 days.

Chances are good that she didn’t voluntarily surrender her law license, it was probably suspended by the State Bar Assoc (the gawds that be). How she can continue to actually function in office is beyond me, I think you need JD after your name to issue warrants. So maybe her associates are doing all the work, and she’s just sitting in her office, collecting her pay and most importantly, racking up that retirement plan.

If I were Perry, I would walk into court and demand an immediate trial starting right there. “Your honor, I am ready for trial, let it begin” He has a right to a timely trial, the DA bought charges he must be ready, then swing for the fences. Get it over with.

LOL——also how did a grand jury even indict on these frivolous charges? Were they bribed or something twisted as a payoff? So unbelievable.

When asked if she took any medications, they blocked that because of privacy concerns. She was taking something, tho. And drinking and drugs.....bad combo.

As an aside, this article has cleared up something for me. I was in Texas a number of times in the 70s and I had always understood that “Texas Open Container Law” as requiring you to have one.

I doubt that the democrats running for office in TX will put themselves in that position. It’s not characteristic of them. They rather lie, ignor, put in a straw man.

Our local news CBS has already started the visual propaganda of showing a woman in the Dem’s office saying, “Whatever they’re saying about what Perry has done wrong, we’ll just have to wait for.”

With that kind of boozing, she has been on the roads bombed out her mind on more than one occasion - she was finally caught.

....she went to jail for 45 days....

Someone who is as used to consuming as much alcohol as Lehmberg couldn't possibly go cold turkey. Here's what I don't get. How could she not drink for 45 days (while in jail) and not end up in the hospital with the DT's?

That's not all I don't get. If an investigation were done of her office I can only imagine the tales her staff would have, assuming they'd talk. Wouldn't a drunk DA be a liability to the handling of cases? Or is she shielded by her underlings?

However, outside of Austin, this whole thing is making Perry look good because he was trying to get a sloppy drunk to step down from her government position. What was a Travis County news item (Lehmberg being a sloppy drunk), is now a national news item.
