Airstrikes Over Tripoli Kill Six; Source of Bombing Is Unknown

Unidentified warplanes on Monday bombed a small arms depot and other locations in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, that are controlled by Islamist-aligned militias, suggesting that a foreign state had intervened in the escalating battle for control of the city.

At least six people were killed, The Associated Press reported. The origin of the planes remained a mystery.

The airstrikes were beyond the capacity of the limited Libyan Air Force, and Libyan authorities said the planes had come from a foreign state. The United States, France, Italy and Egypt all denied responsibility.

“The United States was not involved whatsoever in these events,” said Marie Harf, a State Department spokeswoman.

But the targets indicated the intent of the strikes. Although the month-old conflict in Tripoli is largely a contest for power between rival coalitions of cities and tribes, one side is considered to be allied with the forces of political Islam, while the other portrays itself as fighting an Islamist takeover. The strikes on Monday all hit the Islamist side.

Tunisia is close by as is Algeria. The Egyptians would most easily be technically capable of such a strike, wouldn't they?

I get the feeling I would approve heartily of this strike but that does not change the fact that this solution appeared because we (Read Hillary and Brennan) created the original problem.

I have often wondered why Egypt wouldn’t just annex Libya.

From memory Libya has only 5 million population compared to Egypt’s 80 million or so starving population with no resources having to rely on westerners or debauched Saudi royal princelings.

Egypt could conclude that might makes right these days now that the USA world policeman is no longer on patrol.

Putin grabs Crimea peninsula and the Black Sea oil and gas field.

China stakes a claims to the entire South China Sea oil and gas and parks a massive rig on the Parcel Islands.

Remember that China evacuated 35,000 oil workers from Eastern Libya when the bombing started at the beginning of the NATO campaign to boot Gadhafi. I suspect that the EU wanting the block the Chinese from locking up Libyan oil had something to do with the overthrow of Gadhafi.

Chinese workers had already recently started to come back into the Eastern Libyan oil producing region.

Yes. And McCain was in there rubbing shoulders with them too.

Obama uses them for advisers. You’ve really got to shake your head at this.

Both parties have members that have become far too cozy with the enemy.

Honestly, I think both parties are responsible for the ISIS/ISIL problem.

Egypt would be my guess - but I also would think they have their own hands full at home right now

So could be some mercenary group hired and trained by....?

If the planes accurately hit their targets, then someone provided intelligence, equipment and trained personnel to run and execute the operation

Frankly, who has time to give a da@n right now about Libya?
The ones whose ox may be gored by “islamists” are the europeans who now run the Libyan oilfields

You know, if blacks would be as honest about their black leaders as we are about our white ones, this nation would be a far better place.

This man should be removed from office. He’s a danger to himself, and more importantly a danger to our nation.
