Missouri cop was badly beaten before shooting Michael Brown, says source

EXCLUSIVE: Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo., police officer whose fatal shooting of Michael Brown touched off more than a week of demonstrations, suffered severe facial injuries, including an orbital (eye socket) fracture, and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun, a source close to the department's top brass told FoxNews.com.

“The Assistant (Police) Chief took him to the hospital, his face all swollen on one side,” said the insider. “He was beaten very severely.”

According to the well-placed source, Wilson was coming off another case in the neighborhood on Aug. 9 when he ordered Michael Brown and his friend Dorain Johnson to stop walking in the middle of the road because they were obstructing traffic. However, the confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence, the source said..

“They ignored him and the officer started to get out of the car to tell them to move," the source said. "They shoved him right back in, that’s when Michael Brown leans in and starts beating Officer Wilson in the head and the face.

The source claims that there is "solid proof" that there was a struggle between Brown and Wilson for the policeman’s firearm, resulting in the gun going off – although it still remains unclear at this stage who pulled the trigger. Brown started to walk away according to the account, prompting Wilson to draw his gun and order him to freeze. Brown, the source said, raised his hands in the air, and turned around saying, "What, you're going to shoot me?"

At that point, the source told FoxNews.com, the 6 foot, , 4 inch, 300-pound Brown charged Wilson,........

Despite it being posted here numerous times - along with the /sarcasm tag - 2 co-workers of mine actually said that any facial injuries the officer received were due to the recoil from his gun. I kid you not! (That's when I realized there was no point in discussing this issue any further with these 2.)

Of course, initially they'd said they were not aware he received any injuries at all. I had to ask them what their "sources" were since reports of these injuries were not a secret.

It’s a widespread symptom...from sports plays to incidents like this, everybody has their own “truth”. Even in the face of video evidence, people just see what they want to see. Have you seen the footage of the shooting in St. Louis? The robbery suspect is walking towards police with a knife in his hand. He gets refuses to stop and gets about 10 ft. away and the cops shoot him. The CNN reporter’s respsonse? “Well, he wasn’t charging them, only walking, and he didn’t raise the knife”. People are just plain nuts.

Same reporters would have a different attitude if the suspect pulled a knife on THEM, and a cop was standing nearby politely asking the man to put down the knife.

Their ‘response’ would be “SHOOT HIM YOU IDIOT”.

The only gap I see so far is that Sow Belly Brownie doesn’t look to me like he has a bone-breaking punch in him. Yeah, he’s a full grown lard ass but that doesn’t mean he’s strong or quick. I have much personal experience putting lead bottoms like him on their backs and hard knuckles and high arm strength is rare.. While he might have thrown some haymakers my suspicion is that he slammed the Cop’s head in the door and that would more readily explain a broken cheek bone?

I've read elsewhere that Darren Wilson might have popped the door of the SUV open, started to climb out, and had the door spring back into him, catching him in the face.

Whether the yute had a hand in the "spring-back" is an open question.

I would feel better if Wilson had touched his face at some point, when he was being videotaped at the scene.

Why would you ask that? What sense is it supposed to make?

Lots of conflicting reports, witness statements overall.

In regards to trauma to cop’s face, video shows him chatting with another officer near Brown’s corpse. Wilson shows no nursing of facial wounds or exhibits any wounds.

Maybe he’s in shock. Maybe eyeball popped out later while shaving. So far nothing seems clear and it would not surprise me if no facial wounds.
