All police officers should be required to wear small cameras that document everything they say and do.
The cameras would be a boon to the honest cops...who are the majority.
This tech has become so inexpensive that a small device with multiple cameras can be created cheaply. This would totally eliminate the “The camera failed” excuse for missing camera data as only hard drives belonging to the IRS can have multiple hardware failures at the same time ;-/
The cameras data should be encrypted in such a way that only a court order can make the video watchable. This eliminates the argument that police would be under constant scrutiny that would hinder them in the performance of their duty. I would strongly oppose the decryption of ANY camera data that did not occur during the time period of an interaction with a suspect....no cop-to-cop chit-chat should ever be decrypted. I’m certain that defense counsel would endlessly seek the decryption of video that occurred outside of the time window of an actual arrest...they would seek to go on a fishing expedition to find anything that would make the officer look bad to a jury. Such a thing should never be allowed. No one should have to self sensor everything they say and do.
lets put cameras on the cops and restore honor to the profession and make the lives of honest cops a lot easier!
If so, why aren't police unions fighting to get the cameras?
>>The cameras would be a boon to the honest cops...who are the majority.
I no longer believe that. imo there are two kind of cops, dirty cops and cops who cover for dirty cops...oops, guess that means there is only one type of cop.
Its crazy not to have this. I have front and rear facing Tachyon cams on the Road King. Integrated audio and 1080p
video, endless loop recording to SG Mini cards holding 64Gb.
