I am so disgusted by this: I have not watched the video, but just because someone steals a couple dollars of something from somebody does not mean he should be riddled with bullets. What happened to the police arresting people? Police have gotten impatient. They don’t want to talk people down anymore. Or pull back and arrest them next time. It is disturbing.

Since you won’t watch the video, I’ll tell you what happened. The thief waited around outside the store holding a big knife, and when the LEOs showed up, walked aggressively toward them, daring them to shoot, and they did.

He got riddled with bullets because he charged a cop brandishing a knife.

That is obviously the correct way to do it. If a perp starts waving a knife around and threatening you, jump back in the cruiser and wait till he calms down. If a passer-by happens to get stabbed, no big deal, at least the perps civil rights are still intact. The DEAD person can take consolation in that.

But now you will say that they should do something in that case. They did, he had been walking back and forth into that store, with the knife, and could have stabbed the people working there whenever he wanted. The police told him to drop the knife, he started waving it around more. Maybe they should have shot it out of his hand.

Good movie training there. Have you ever tried to handle a person with a knife? Look up some videos of how a good knife fighter can stab you six or seven times before you can make a move. A knife is just as deadly as a gun, and is actually much more painful than most bullet strikes.

A toxic climate has been created in Ferguson. Lawllessness now abounds as respect for the rule of law is just about gone. What you are seeing is the effects off removing G-d and his hand of protection from the U.S. while th Left bring Satan in disguising him as atheism or Islam.

A knife is considered a deadly weapon. Generally, the law permits the use of deadly force when confronted with deadly force. I’ve trained in martial arts and during our knife drills we were told repeatedly to assume that anyone with a knife 1) intended to use it and 2) intended to kill us. We were instructed not to disarm the assailant but to kill him. Period.

We trained with our bare hands. These cops were fortunate enough to have guns.

Frankly, I wouldn’t have given the piece of garbage a chance to drop it. Using the two rules I cited earlier, I would have shot him to death as soon as I had a clear field. Then the only problem becomes getting rid of the stain in the parking lot.

You are a good candidate for a ride along in south Memphis or Chicago. You are severely uninformed or naive.

When someone flashes a knife at a cop with a gun then begs the cop to shoot him I have little compassion for the guy with the knife. He literally got what he asked for in more ways than one.

All that having been said I do personally believe that the cops could have shown some restraint. Why didn’t they disable the man with a taser? Why must they shoot to kill. At such close range a shot to the thigh could have easily put the guy down, but then there would be a lot of taxpayer expense to keep him in jail or prison for several years.

The guy was an idiot for displaying the knife, he was asking for it, he was a thief, etc., but, killing him was a little over the top in my book. He never lunged at the cops, never really was threatening he was just being a smart ass.

The cops will get away with this without even a blemish on their record (on earth anyway) but in my honest opinion they shouldn’t. Poor judgment on their part to kill this guy.

I am as suspicious of police as you are. However, I won’t fault them for shooting a belligerent person coming at them with a knife. They came there to investigate a petty crime, not shoot someone. The getting shot part was all on him.
