I want to make sure after yesterday’s post that everyone knows it’s still in dispute whether Wilson’s eye socket was actually fractured in his altercation with Michael Brown.
What’s apparently not in dispute is that Wilson somehow emerged from the incident with part of his face swollen.

The extent of the injury matters insofar as the worse it is, the stronger Wilson’s defense will be that he reasonably feared serious injury from Brown when he allegedly charged at him. But it probably doesn’t matter that much: Obviously, the complexion of a case in which an unarmed man is shot dead changes if the defendant was attacked just moments before, especially if that attack involved going for the defendant’s gun. If the victim’s intent to harm is proved, establishing that Wilson’s fear of Brown was reasonable, then he’s one-third of the way to self-defense. He’d also have to show that Brown was advancing on him, a claim the prosecution will try to disprove, and further that Brown was so dangerous that Wilson was justified in using lethal force in bringing him down. Not an easy task given that Brown had no weapon of his own, but then that’s why the injury is important.

On 19 Mar 1988 in West Belfast, Northern Ireland, two young British Army corporals inadvertently drove in the vicinity of the elaborate funeral procession for Kevin Bradey, considered a hero by the IRA.
The two corporals were in civilian clothing, and their car was unmarked. Both were armed with ageing Browning Hi-Power Pistols with standard, hardball ammunition. Pistols were issued for “personal protection,” because of the dangerous nature of Northern Ireland at the time, but neither soldier (nor anyone else in the British Army) had ever received any species of competent training in their serious use. Of course, neither pistol was carried with a round chambered.
The UK, then and now, has no gun-culture, so no one there knows anything about carrying and using guns for serious purposes!
The two junior NCOs, realizing their mistake, tried to get turned-around, but they never made it!
An angry crowd quickly surrounded their now-stationary vehicle. Both soldiers were dragged out of their car, beaten half to death, and then shot multiple times through the back of the neck by IRA operatives, who, by the way, do know something about carrying serious pistols and do carry them in the correct state of readiness!
During the incident, one of the corporals managed to get a round chambered, and fired a single shot, not at his attackers, but in the air, as a ” warning,” just as he had been foolishly instructed. Both NCOs had been sternly warned by their cynical superiors that if they ever used their pistols for any purpose other than starting horse races, they would be drummed out of the Corps!
As a result, neither made any effective use of weapons they had readily at hand, pistols, nor the car itself.
In Parliament two days later, Northern Ireland’s Secretary of State publically condemned the killings, and added this gem:
“… although they both had loaded personal-protection pistols, they showed incredible restraint in using them only to fire a warning shot in the air. “
Yes, so much “restraint” that they allowed themselves to be murdered while scarcely even inconveniencing their murderers. So, now we lavishly praise people for these demonstrably incompetent, inadequate, and ineffective responses to criminal violence. No wonder Western Civilization is crumbling. We’re congratulating people for being losers!
The problem is, of course, the British Government’s hysterical hatred of self-defense and its paranoid fear of guns. This irrational fearfulness makes itself felt, even the Army!
The two murdered corporals were not MI5, nor SAS. They were just two junior NCOs who drove by the wrong place at the wrong time.
When exposed to violent, criminal attack, the only “warning shot” that should be fired by any one of us should go straight through the ventricles of our attacker’s black heart, as a subtle indicator that more are about to follow in rapid sequence until he/they find something else to do!
“Warning shots” are a sign of lack of commitment to one’s personal survival. They will invariably be interpreted as such!

So, libs planted the rumor, let it take root, then, discredited it to discredit him. Sounds like it to me.
I’m not being sarcastic but most of us come with two eyes and MOST shooters close one of them when shooting, usually the dominant one. No matter which, Officer Wilson used one of his two hands, maybe both to hold and shoot. Police train regularly on how to shoot and I noticed that most all of his six shots were to the right side of Big Mike’s body as he came or lunged forward. Might be a clue to the loss of using one of officer Wilson’s two eyes. Guess it doesn’t matter which eye was damaged though but may have some significance as to where the bullets were placed. The rule when shooting is “center mass” and if Big Mike was staggering around, hitting that “mass” would be a problem for anyone, even a shooter with two eyes.
Has the condition of the perpetrators hitting hand been revealed by (any of) the autopsies? Perhaps a swollen knuckle, broken finger, whathaveyou? Perhaps the officers DNA under a fingernail, or some such?
Unless his eye is hanging from the socket, probably just fine. It takes time for an eye to swell shut when hit.
And how about a lead like: “Wilson suffered facial injuries, but not a broken eye socket, as claimed by some earlier reports. The injuries tend to support his claim that he was first attacked by Brown in the altercation that led to Brown’s death.”
Now just how in hades do you expect CNN to up their ratings with factual/objective content like that? /s of course
At the opposite end of the spectrum is the ‘No Hesitation’ training program that DHS was using. That program trained cops to immediately kill anyone with a firearm. No discussion. No asking for a permit. Just consider every person with a firearm an “immediate threat” and kill them.
Somewhere between officer safety and civilian safety is the answer. But putting a poorly trained military on our streets as an occupation force is not the answer.
And I’m not talking about Ferguson, I’m talking about Boston last year.

To your other point, yes, I believe we have all had about enough. This divisive president has had that effect on the people of this country. And I believe that was part of his goal. Class struggle/warfare is one of the tenets of Marxism.
...especially if you are dazed from getting assaulted & vision blurred.
