Anyone familiar with the film “Casino”,a true story of the mob’s control of Vegas,knows that Dirty Harry (played by Dick Smothers in the film) has a long and rather tawdry association with Nevada casinos.
three men were involved John Birges Sr., Willis “Bill” Brown and Terry Lee Hall; Brown and Hall were simply delivery men; each paid to help Birges' extortion effort.
I vaguely remember that there was talk of the hotel being involved.

The bomb was placed right next to my stepfather's office, in the receptionist area a few feet from his door!
I wasn't in the area at the time, but kept a curious eye on the situation. I believe Harvey Gross actually attempted to deliver the ransom with his own heliocopter but, either was thwarted by bad information on the drop zone, or FBI interference...
BTW! Those famous Needle Peak rocks now have a sizable mansion built on them! All of us hooligans from that earlier era swore if we ever made it in this world, THAT would be the choicest parcel of Lake Magnet land to build on... What a view!
Not that I know of. This was at a time when there was no choice but to drive to Reno/Lake Tahoe/Las Vegas.
California didn't even have a lottery.
So the owners were awash in hundred dollar bills.
Every Friday a line cars stretching from Los Angeles to Vegas and from San Francisco through Sacramento where I live splitting with some going to Reno and the others going to Tahoe.
I’m surprised that Pinto didn’t blow up in sympathy.
This story has been on a cable tv channel many times.
Pretty impressive this was all done by a landscaper. He sounds like an engineer who must have spent a lot of time in casinos.
