Why do we keep electing extremists in the primaries?
Obama is 100 percent liberal and McCain and Romney are 100 percent conservative. Most Americans are near 50/50. I'm hoping in 2016 moderates instead of extremists are nominated. People can't just be divided up into liberal and conservative. Most are in between. One person might be pro life but pro gay marriage. Another might be anti gun but anti tax. Very very very few are liberal or conservative on everything yet most elected officials are. Why?

I understand and respect the larger question being raised. But I stopped reading as soon as it said, McCain and Romney are extreme conservatives. Someone has to be kidding, or high on dope to write that, ha! Both of those gentlemen were so supportive of key aspects of the left-wing or statist Washington establishment agenda that they lost millions and millions of voters, many of whom stayed home in protest or frustration or both. Remember romneycare? Remember mcCajn spending much of his campaign reassuring America that his opponent was a good man they could trust with the Oval Office, despite Said person’s known anti-American IslamoNazi! terrorist /communist associations McCain and Romney , for what good things they may have had to offer, were far from “ extreme cobservatives.
