Imagine the disunity this will cause in the team.

None will dare to say it publicly, of course, that would mean the end to your career. You cannot speak ill of the gays if you have ANY public profile now, but you can fight and kill dogs in the NFL and still be considered “upstanding”.

Sure. If it’s for a legitimate reason. If the other guys are better than he is, who can argue? If it’s clear, then there should be no issue. I can only see a problem if Sam is arguably better than someone that makes the team ahead of him...

I guess he'll just have to go to the local gay bath house and bore them with all those “I could have been a contender if it wasn't for anti-gay bigotry” tripe. That may very well be true, as Sam has only averaged one QB sack per game this pre season.
