One of Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthys most valued commanders was charged Wednesday with official misconduct and aggravated battery for allegedly putting his gun in a suspects mouth last year, officials said.
Cmdr. Glenn Evans, who has been in charge of the Harrison District on the West Side, was stripped of his badge and gun earlier Wednesday.
Evans is scheduled to appear in bond court on Thursday on the charges, which are both felonies.

Every cop in America is going to add bleach wipes to his gun cleaning kit...
I’m sure his actions were justified...
...after all, he is a cop, and they never abuse their power...
That is a nasty habit. Did he clean his gun afterwards?
I examined the photo at the link. This guy looks about as valuable as a bag of powdered dogsh!t
Sounds like he watched one or two too many police dramas on tv.
But, but, he reflects the ethnicity of his patrol area. How could this have happened?
Right who wouldn’t be in favor of a cop compounding one felony with another. After all that dangerous suspect had actually exercised his constitutional rights.
Evans is scheduled to appear in bond court on Thursday on the charges, which are both felonies.
Some one was holding a hand gun, whats wrong with that?
Did the reporter go to the same school as the police officer?
Certainly not giving the guy a pass for what he did here, but he was a commander on the south side of Chicago for years as well.
Would you want a guy in that position to not have ANY complaints against him over so many years considering the job he had to do and who he was policing?
Had the gun swallowing “victim” been Mayor Emanuel, perhaps the cop would have gotten away with it as I’m sure there are lots who would have loved to have done that.
“Evans previously was commander of the Grand Crossing District on the South Side, where he earned McCarthys praise when violent crime plummeted there under Evans watch.”
He got positive results, and evidently didn’t kill anyone.
“Im sure his actions were justified...”
Yeah, just like the LA Sheriff’s deputy that killed the cyclist while typing on his in-car computer while driving.
” Would you want a guy in that position to
not have ANY complaints against him
over so many years considering the job
he had to do and who he was policing?”
If they are legitimate complaints, yes. Cops now see any complaint as a badge of honor. A legitimate complaint is not a badge oh honor. It is at bust unprofessional behavior. At worst, a crime.
Exactly!
